The title of my selected film is Ozark Episode 1. The director of the film is Jason Bateman on July 21, 2017. No Ozark is not considered a classic. The technical feature in Ozark is suspense music in the background, also since there are negative things that are happening, I feel like the show environment comes off as dark, gloomy, and mischievous. There are a lot of technical side effects that happen in the show, like when people are getting shot it’s completely silent. Right before he was going to shoot one of the main characters the gunshot noise went on in the background and he had flashbacks of previous life but ended up not being shot. The genre of Ozark is drama, thriller, and crime films.
Marty is one of the main characters and has a business partner to launder money and his business partner steals from a dangerous client who is part of the cartel. The cartel finds out and ends up killing everyone besides Marty. He ends up giving Marty another chance and tells him to move to Ozark, while during that episode it was released that Bruce the business partner was going to rat on everyone to the FBI. The characters do have complex inner lives, the integrity of the audience is respected, and it can be related to recent times. A social issue that is addressed on the show is people being scared of the cartel and not wanting to tell the FBI about it. The use of sound and its side effects affects the viewer because it is always keeping them on their toes and wondering what is going to happen next.
The Ozark craft, at least in episode 1, is to keep the audience always on their toes. Also it presents a site to never lie to the cartel or steal from them. The point that it makes is they end up hurting the family that is closest to them, and also doing some brutal things. We learned something from the characters that some of them were going to betray friends and go behind their backs. The reviews that this show got were a 4.6. It says that this show was dark and gloomy but very well written, with all the plots outlines throughout the series. This show I thought was a Dionysian experience. I would recommend this show to others if they asked if I liked it, because it is unique and it always makes you feel like you want to watch another episode and it doesn’t get old.
