La causa de la fisiocracia fue que el economista francés François Quesnay, quiso realzar la importancia darle un curso natural a la economía de Francia.Por el año de 1750, Quesnay consideraba que el estado no debería de intervenir en el rumbo económico del país.Al contrario, el estado debería dejar que el curso natural de los factores económicos regulara  la economía.Para Quesnay y los fisiócratas, la parte central de una sólida economía recaía en las leyes naturales de la oferta y demanda.Por lo anterior, criticaba la intervención de las políticas de estado en la economía.La consecuencia de este pensamiento fue que los fisiócratas se opusieron al mercantilismo de la época.Los fisiócratas también decidieron apoyar la autorregulación de los factores económicos. Otra consecuencia fue que esta visión económica sirvió de base para futuros conceptos económicos liberales como los de Adam Smith.Otra consecuencia fue que ésta visión sirvió de base para la  elegir libremente la forma de producción.También pugnaba por garantizar el derecho a la posesión de bienes.Lo anterior también es conocido como el derecho a la propiedad privada.
