This year, for the 10th anniversary, the festival will be moved from the Richmond High School auditorium to the Hudgins Performing Arts Center in downtown Newburgh. The main attraction, scheduled for the Saturday night of the weekend festival, is the premiere of Claude Lee's documentary Helper Monkey, which will be followed by a Q&A with the director himself. How does Nikki use structure (white space, stanzas, line breaks, etc) in Allowables?
Answer:
The speaker/narrator of “Allowables” is a good anonymous entity using first-person narration to establish a new personable, yet relatable relationship with audiences. The speaker incorporates repetition from the term “I” by using this particular pronoun on six independent occasions throughout this 16-line poem. Audiences can presume that a human, either man or female, is the voice of the poem. The forthright first line of the poem, “I killed a spider” (1) evokes a confessional tone of voice of the story. Viewers reading the poem’s very first line can make the assumption that the presenter has information and facts to reveal surrounding the death of this spider. By acknowledging the wrong violent take action, the speaker can now have peace with their decisions and no lengthier have to internally struggle – the perfect graceful justice. The speaker’s function in this poem is very significant to typically the evolution of the poem’s plot.

Spiders, in an outlook, are a symbolic representation associated with human fragility as well as the attraction of evil and the narrator supports this idea in the poem. The speaker affirms readers that the spider is not the “murderous brown recluse” (2) or “black widow (3). The poem’s spider, among other diverse spiders, recommendations diversity being a metaphor that will all living things ought to live symbiotically with a single another. Mentioning different varieties of spiders alludes to the poem’s theme that will humans should not damage others, no matter who/what they are; diversity will be something to embrace, not really something to fear. Imagery and personification are afterwards incorporated in the poem’s plot when audiences find out the spider was, “only a small / Sort of papery spider” (5-6). Visual images such since these explicate the spider’s vulnerability. This small index is described as “papery” which possesses the etymology regarding being thin, flimsy, poor, or vulnerable (OED). Whenever audiences are reminded associated with the spider’s weakness, it generates an empathetic tone for the spider’s regrettable death. Finally, the speaker of the poem declares the particular spider’s sex to be female from the incorporation of gender pronouns “she” and “her” on lines 9-11. Since the spider is a female, this portrayal further illustrates the spider’s prejudicial weakness. Therefore, the spider’s vulnerability demonstrates in order to audiences that the crawl was an unwilling plus undeserving victim of typically the narrator’s violence.

Pretend you have one hour to prepare to go into hiding.
You can NEVER return to your home.
You cannot carry a suitcase; it would be obvious you were going into hiding.
It is winter; therefore, it is VERY cold outside and there is limited food where you are going.
What items would you take with you?
How would you disguise these items and how would you carry them?
Answer:
If you were in a situation where you could never return to your home, could not carry a suitcase, and were facing cold weather and limited food, there are a few items that you might want to take with you. Some essential items for survival in this situation might include:
-Clothing to keep you warm, such as a coat, gloves, hat, and boots.
-A knife or multi-tool for cutting, opening containers, and other tasks.
-A flashlight or other light source, such as a headlamp, to help you navigate in the dark.
-A map or compass to help you navigate to your destination.
-Water and food, such as granola bars or other non-perishable items that are easy to carry.
To disguise these items and carry them with you, you could try a few different strategies. For example, you could wrap the items in a piece of cloth and tie them into a bundle that you could carry on your back. You could also use a backpack or other bag to carry the items, but be sure to disguise the bag by covering it with a coat or other clothing. Another option might be to hide the items in pockets or other inconspicuous places on your body, such as inside your coat or in the soles of your shoes. The key is to be creative and use whatever resources you have available to conceal and transport your essential items.

ARTICLE;
TITLE: Smart Shoppers
You can save a lot of money if you read the store sale flyer before you make your shopping list. I know this because I have been a clerk at Berry’s Supermarket for 4 years. I clean the store, stock the shelves, and help the customers find what they are looking for. I have seen a lot of foolish shoppers pay full price for things they don’t need. On the other hand, I have seen a lot of smart shoppers too.
The smart shoppers always look at the sales flyers before they begin shopping. The flyers come with the newspaper, but we also place some right by the front doors. Shoppers can pick them up when they walk in the store. The flyers list all of the items that are on sale that week. The flyers show what the prices are. Sometimes the prices are half off!
This is good news for the shoppers, but sometimes it is not good news for me. When a sale is really big, many people come to Berry’s. The store becomes very crowded. Sometimes, customers buy all of an item that is on sale. Then other customers get mad because they have come to the store just to buy that item and cannot find it. Those customers should not get mad at Berry’s, though. The store can only hold so many products! Plus, if an item is sold out and a customer still has an interest in buying it, Berry’s will give the customer a "rain check." This will allow them to buy the item at the sale price as soon as it gets restocked, even after the sale is finished.
Berry’s has to give out the most rain checks when the store has its "Back to School Spectacular." In addition to the specials that run for the week, there are new specials every weekday. On Monday, folders are on sale for $1. On Tuesday, notebooks are on sale for $2. On Wednesday, backpacks are on sale for $5. On Thursday, lunchboxes are half price. On Friday, crayons and markers are half off.
I am sure that Berry’s will be more crowded than ever for the sale. I will have to stock a lot of shelves, and I'm sure I'll have to write a lot of rain checks. I'll be happy when the weekend starts!

which sentence most clearly uses hyperbole?
Answer: C
Explanation: hyperbole is exaggeration- a term that isn't technically true, it just kind of feels like it is because of the situation, like "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse," that sort of thing.
C is overreacting a little: "We will never be able to feel safe" ever again no matter what we do "unless we set a curfew." It's being dramatic to make the point that a curfew will help us feel more safe.
