Is the quote from historian b a primary source or secondary sources? Explain

Answers

Quotes from historians are to be considered as secondary source.

Primary sources are books, articles, or other materials that offer narratives of events from the perspective of the original witnesses.

For instance, if you are researching the civil rights movement, both a memoir written by a march participant and a newspaper piece that was written the day after the 1965 Selma to Montgomery march would be regarded as primary materials.

When analyzing and interpreting the past, historians employ primary sources as the initial evidence.

They disseminate secondary sources that provide their interpretation, frequently academic books or articles. Writing a historical research paper entails developing a secondary source based on your own evaluation of the primary source material.

For more information on ancient sources,

https://brainly.com/question/25981430

Secondary sources are historical sources written after the fact by historians and biographers. These people were not present when the event or movement took place.

Historians use primary sources as raw evidence to analyze and interpret the past. They publish-secondary sources (often scholarly articles and books) that explain their interpretations.

Books written by historians are second-hand or secondary sources because the historian is the second (or third, fourth, or more!) person to tell the story. Indirect citation or secondary sourcing occurs when one author's ideas are published in another author's text.

But the original author's work has not been read or accessed. Include both the original author and year and the author and year of the work in which the bibliographic citation/idea is found in the text.

Which feature allowed the city of Rome to be defended?

its location on seven hills
its location in a valley
its location on the southern tip of Italy
its location on the Po River

Answers

Answer:

Its location on seven hills

Explanation:

The location of the city of Rome was especially favorable to its early settlers. Located about 18 miles (29 km) inland on the Tiber River, Rome had a route to the sea. However, it was far enough inland to be relatively safe from pirates. It could be easily defended because of its position, built on seven hills. In addition, it was situated where the Tiber River could be easily crossed. Thus, it became a natural crossing point for north-south traffic in western Italy. All in all, Rome had a good central location in Italy from which to expand.

Answer:

How did the Patriots' fight for
independence affect the institution of slavery in the colonies?

Answers

Answer:

Serving on both sides of the War of Independence allowed many thousand slaves to achieve their freedom.

The Patriots' fight for independence from British rule in the American colonies had a complex impact on the institution of slavery in the colonies.

During the American Revolution, some Patriots, such as Thomas Paine, called for the abolition of slavery, arguing that it was incompatible with the principles of liberty and equality that the Patriots were fighting for. However, many slave-holding Patriots, such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, did not see the abolition of slavery as a priority, and continued to hold slaves during and after the war.

The war itself also had a significant impact on slavery in the colonies. As the Patriots and British troops moved through the colonies, many slaves saw the conflict as an opportunity to escape from bondage. Thousands of slaves fled to the British army, which promised them freedom in exchange for fighting for the Crown. The British also set up recruiting centers for escaped slaves and raised regiments of former slaves, known as the Black Loyalists.

At the same time, the war effort also led to an increase in the use of slave labor in the colonies. As men were called away to fight, slave owners relied increasingly on enslaved people to work on farms, plantations, and in other industries.

After the war, the new United States government took a cautious approach to slavery. The Constitution, adopted in 1787, protected the institution of slavery in the country for several decades. However, the abolitionist movement, which had been growing during and after the war, continued to press for the end of slavery and the 13th amendment which abolished slavery was passed in 1865.

In summary, the American Revolution did not directly lead to the abolition of slavery in the colonies, but it did contribute to the growing movement to end it. The war also had a significant impact on the institution of slavery, as many enslaved people saw it as an opportunity to escape from bondage, and the use of slave labor increased during the war effort.

Compared to women in the rest of the United States, women living in the West during the 1800s had relatively more property rights. The availability of land and the frontier conditions in the West provided opportunities for women to own and acquire property, especially through mechanisms like the Homestead Act of 1862. This gave women greater independence and control over their own economic affairs compared to their counterparts in other regions during that time period. Women in the West played active roles in establishing and managing homesteads, contributing to the development of communities, and participating in various economic and social activities.

Therefore, it can be said that compared with women in the rest of the United States, women living in the West during the 1800s had more property rights.
