5. Discuss the limitations of multi input CMOS NOR circuits and explain how they might be reduced using the concept of the domino logic configuration.
Multi-input CMOS NOR circuits have limitations in terms of complexity, area requirements, propagation delays, and static power consumption. These limitations can be reduced by adopting the domino logic configuration, which simplifies the pull-up network and reduces area requirements. Domino logic also employs dynamic evaluation, resulting in shorter propagation delays and lower static power consumption.
The limitations of multi-input CMOS NOR circuits include increased complexity, larger area requirements, and longer propagation delays due to the need for multiple transistors in the pull-up network. Additionally, the static power consumption is higher in these circuits.
The concept of domino logic configuration can help reduce these limitations. In domino logic, the pull-up network is simplified by using a single transistor instead of multiple transistors in the NOR gate. This reduces the complexity and area requirements of the circuit. The propagation delay is also reduced as the evaluation phase is performed using dynamic logic, where the precharge phase charges the node to a certain voltage level, and during the evaluation phase, the output is determined by the discharge of the node.
By adopting the domino logic configuration, the limitations of multi-input CMOS NOR circuits can be mitigated, resulting in reduced complexity, smaller area requirements, shorter propagation delays, and lower static power consumption. However, it's important to note that domino logic also has its own limitations, such as the need for careful clocking schemes to avoid glitches and the inability to implement certain logic functions directly.

We both giggled. Really giggled. Suddenly, in just a pulse beat, twenty years disappeared and all of it came rushing back. The big girls (whom we called gar girls-Roberta's misheard word for the evil stone faces described in a civics class) there dancing in the orchard, the ploppy mashed potatoes, the double weenies, the Spam with pineapple. We went into the coffee shop holding on to one another and I tried to think why we were glad to see each other this time and not before. Once, twelve years ago, we passed like strangers. A black girl and a white girl meeting in a Howard Johnson's on the road and having nothing to say. One in a blue and white triangle waitress hat-the other on her way to see Hendrix. Now we were behaving like sisters separated for much too long. Those four short months were nothing in time. Maybe it was the thing itself. Just being there, together. Two little girls who knew what nobody else in the world knew-how not to ask questions. How to believe what had to be believed. There was politeness in that reluctance and generosity as well. Is your mother sick too? No, she dances all night, Oh-and an understanding nod.
There are a number of potentially important details and observations in this section from Toni Morrison's "Recitatif" that might be made:
1. Time and Nostalgia: As the narrator muses over memories from twenty years ago, the paragraph incites a feeling of nostalgia. The rapid flood of memories highlights the strength of memory and the influence of previous experiences by making time seem to vanish.
2. Childhood Phrases and Nicknames: The two girls invented the word "gar girls" as a nickname. It shows Roberta's misunderstanding of the meaning of the phrase "car girls" that was used in their civics class.
3. References to food: The use of phrases like "ploppy mashed potatoes," "double weenies," and "Spam with pineapple" draws attention to specific foods that are connected to their common experiences.
4. Social and Racial Disparities: The narrator draws attention to Roberta's race by mentioning that she is a white girl and she is a black girl.
5. Their Relationship's Evolution: The narrator considers how their relationship has changed throughout time. They had previously been strangers, but now they act like long-lost sisters.
6. Unspoken Interpretation: The paragraph highlights the girls' capacity to "not ask questions" and "believe what had to be believed." They have an implicit understanding of one another that reflects their common expertise or individual experiences.
7. Courtesy and Generosity: The lack of personal questions and the nod of agreement show courtesies and generosity in their exchange. Despite having diverse upbringings and life experiences, they are understanding and respectful of one another's situations.
These insights draw attention to the themes of memory, childhood, racial dynamics, and interpersonal change.

Read the Greek myth "Midas" retold by Thomas Bulfinch and answer the question.
[1] Bacchus, on a certain occasion, found his old schoolmaster and foster-father, Silenus, missing. The old man had been drinking, and in that state wandered away, and was found by some peasants, who carried him to their king, Midas. Midas recognized him, and treated him hospitably, entertaining him for ten days and nights with an unceasing round of jollity.
[2] On the eleventh day he brought Silenus back, and restored him in safety to his pupil. Whereupon Bacchus offered Midas his choice of a reward, whatever he might wish. He asked that whatever he might touch should be changed into gold. Bacchus consented, though sorry that he had not made a better choice.
[3] Midas went his way, rejoicing in his new-acquired power, which he hastened to put to the test. He could scarce believe his eyes when he found a twig of an oak, which he plucked from the branch, become gold in his hand. He took up a stone; it changed to gold. He touched a sod; it did the same. He took up an apple from the tree; you would have thought he had robbed the garden of the Hesperides. His joy knew no bounds, and as soon as he got home, he ordered the servants to set a splendid repast on the table. Then he found to his dismay that whether he touched bread, it hardened in his hand; or put a morsel to his lip, it defied his teeth. He took a glass of wine, but it flowed down his throat like melted gold.
[4] In consternation at the unprecedented affliction, he strove to divest himself of his power; he hated the gift he had lately coveted. But all in vain; starvation seemed to await him. He raised his arms, all shining with gold, in prayer to Bacchus, begging to be delivered from his glittering destruction. Bacchus, merciful deity, heard and consented. "Go," said he, "to River Pactolus, trace its fountain-head, there plunge yourself and body in, and wash away your fault and its punishment." He did so, and scarce had he touched the waters before the gold-creating power passed into them, and the river sands became changed into gold, as they remain to this day.
Select two key details that could be included in a summary of the myth.
1. Bacchus granted Midas's wish for a golden touch.
2. Midas couldn't eat because of the wish Bacchus granted.

zealous means having and or showing zeal
Explanation:
dank unpleasant; dark unpleasantly moist From the context, I understood that the night is unpleasant to some extent. It is a “tropical night,” which explains why it is moist or humid.
palpable intensely felt evident; readily seen Because the night is described as a “dank, palpable night that presses its warm blanket against the yacht,” I thought palpable meant “hot,” but when I checked the dictionary definition, I realized it could contextually mean “intensely felt.”
doggedly determinedly with persistence Because I read that “Rainsford swam doggedly,” I realized he did it with determination.
ardent enthusiastic passionate When I read that Zaroff’s father was an ardent sportsman, I realized that it meant he was enthusiastic.
scruples principles morals, principles Zaroff says that Rainsford’s scruples are ill-founded when he calls Zaroff a murderer, which is why I thought that scruples meant principles.
ennui feeling tired boredom When Zaroff gets bored of hunting, he says he is afflicted by ennui. So I figured this word meant being tired of or bored of something.
zealous passionate extremely passionate or enthusiastic When I read that Zaroff is a zealous hunter, I guessed that the word meant passionate because so much of the story is about his love of hunting.
uncanny strange mysterious The general could follow Rainsford’s trail even at night, which made me think uncanny meant “strange” or “supernatural.”
mocking making fun of ridiculing; contemptuous The trap Rainsford sets for the general is not successful, which makes the general mock him, so I assumed it meant “to make fun of.”
placid relaxed calm; pleasant Since placid was used to describe a pastime, I assumed it meant “relaxed and easygoing.”

Which detail demonstrates President Roosevelt's faulty reasoning in favor of the appeal of the Eighteenth Amendment?
excerpt from Statement about Proclamation 2065: Repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment
by President Franklin D. Roosevelt
In the following speech, President Roosevelt defends the repeal, or cancellation, of the Eighteenth Amendment, which had banned the sale and consumption
of alcohol in the United States.
Whereas it appears from a certificate issued December 5, 1933, by the Acting Secretary of State that official notices have been received in the Department
of State that on the fifth day of December, 1933, Conventions in thirty-six States of the United States, constituting three-fourths of the whole number of the
States had ratified the said repeal amendment;
Now, Therefore, I, Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States of America pursuant to the provisions of Section 217 (a) of the said Act of June 16,
1933, do hereby proclaim that the Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States was repealed on the fifth day of December, 1933.
Furthermore, I enjoin upon all citizens of the United States and upon others resident within the jurisdiction thereof, to cooperate with the Government in its
endeavor to restore greater respect for law and order, by confining such purchases of alcoholic beverages as they may make solely to those dealers or
agencies which have been duly licensed by State or Federal license.
Observance of this request, which I make personally to every individual and every family in our Nation, will result in the consumption of alcoholic beverages
which have passed Federal inspection, in the break-up and eventual destruction of the notoriously evil illicit liquor traffic, and in the payment of reasonable
taxes for the support of the Government and thereby in the superseding of other forms of taxation.
I call specific attention to the authority given by the 21st Amendment to the Government to prohibit transportation or importation of intoxicating liquors into
any State in violation of the laws of such State.
I ask the wholehearted cooperation of all our citizens to the end that this return of individual freedom shall not be accompanied by the repugnant conditions
that obtained prior to the adoption of the 18th Amendment and those that have existed since its adoption. Failure to do this honestly and courageously will be
a living reproach to us all.
I ask especially that no State shall by law or otherwise authorize the return of the saloon either in its old form or in some modern guise.
The policy of the Government will be to see to it that the Social and political evils that have existed in the pre-prohibition era shall not be revived nor
permitted again to exist. We must remove forever from our midst the menace of the bootlegger and such others as would profit at the expense of good
government, law and order.
I trust in the good sense of the American people that they will not bring upon themselves the curse of excessive use of intoxicating liquors, to the detriment
of health, morals and social integrity.
