WHAT ARE THE FAMOUS EXPLORERS DURING RENAISSANCE PERIODE ?AND WHAT THEY DISCOVERED?

Answers

The famous explorers during Renaissance period were as follows Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan, Hernan Cortes, Francisco Pizarro.

From the 14th to the 17th centuries, Europe saw a period of intellectual and cultural advancement known as the Renaissance.

The Renaissance was a period of learning that originated in Florence, Italy, and quickly expanded over all of Europe.

It was distinguished from the Middle Ages by its emphasis on intellectual inquiry and the resurrection of Classical culture.

While some Europeans of this time sought to realise these objectives through the study of mathematics, painting, and other academic disciplines, others chose to travel the world by sea.

In addition to being remembered as a period of cultural burgeoning, the Renaissance also signalled the beginning of Europe's role as an expansionist force and a significant participant in global exploration.

Answers

While there are valid arguments both for and against the Electoral College, I believe that it should be maintained as the process to elect the President of the United States. It provides representation for smaller states, promotes stability, and helps maintain a two-party system. However, discussions and potential reforms to address the concerns raised by the popular vote vs. electoral vote discrepancy should be encouraged to ensure a fair and democratic electoral process.

The current process to elect the President of the United States is done through the Electoral College. This means that instead of being directly elected by the popular vote, the President is elected by a group of electors who are chosen by each state. Each state is allocated a certain number of electors based on its representation in Congress, with a total of 538 electors nationwide.

In my opinion, the President of the United States should continue to be elected by the Electoral College for several reasons. Firstly, the Electoral College ensures that the interests of smaller states are not overshadowed by larger states. This is because each state is given a minimum of three electoral votes, regardless of its population size. This system prevents candidates from focusing solely on densely populated areas and neglecting the concerns of rural or less populated regions.

Secondly, the Electoral College promotes stability and prevents hasty decision-making. It serves as a buffer between the popular vote and the final decision, allowing for a more deliberative and thoughtful process. This is especially important during times of crisis or uncertainty, as the Electoral College can act as a safeguard against impulsive or uninformed choices.

Thirdly, the Electoral College encourages a two-party system and helps to maintain political stability. Due to the winner-takes-all nature of most states' electoral votes, third-party candidates face significant challenges in gaining enough electoral support to win. This promotes a more unified and coherent political landscape, which can enhance the effectiveness of governance.

However, it is important to acknowledge the counterarguments against using the Electoral College to elect the President. One main argument is that it can lead to a candidate winning the popular vote but losing the electoral vote, as seen in the 2000 and 2016 elections. This can be seen as a flaw in the system, as it goes against the principle of majority rule.

Answers

The period between 1905 & 1917 was marked by a series of revolutions in Russia that would ultimately reshape the country's political, social, & economic landscape.

The revolution of 1905 was sparked by a wave of protests and strikes in response to the government's brutal repression of a peaceful demonstration in St. Petersburg. The protesters were demanding political reform, including an elected national assembly, civil liberties, and an end to the Tsarist autocracy.

Although the 1905 revolution failed to achieve its goals, it paved the way for further unrest & paved the way for the Bolsheviks to take power in 1917. The First World War, which Russia entered in 1914, had a devastating impact on the country's economy & morale.

The February Revolution of 1917 was the result of this dissatisfaction, as workers, soldiers, and peasants took to the streets to demand an end to the war, an end to the monarchy, and greater democracy.

Explain the historical context of the lesson how pseudoscientific ideas were introduced, implemted in Germany, explain their impact. When explaining the impact of pseudoscientific ideas, provide examples

Answers

The historical context of how pseudoscientific ideas were introduced and implemented in Germany can be traced back to the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime in the early 1930s.

Under Hitler's rule, there was a deliberate effort to manipulate and distort scientific principles to fit the ideology of the Nazi Party. Pseudoscientific theories were used to justify and promote their racist, eugenic, and anti-Semitic beliefs.

One notable example is the concept of Aryan supremacy, which claimed that the Aryan race, specifically the Germanic people, were biologically superior to other races. This idea was used to support Hitler's policies of racial discrimination and ultimately led to the Holocaust and the systematic genocide of millions of Jews and other minority groups.

Another pseudoscientific theory that gained traction in Nazi Germany was eugenics, the idea of improving the genetic quality of the population through selective breeding and sterilization. The Nazi regime implemented policies such as forced sterilization of individuals deemed "genetically inferior" or "unfit" and promoted the idea of racial purity.

These pseudoscientific ideas had a profound and devastating impact on German society and the world at large. They fueled a climate of hatred, discrimination, and violence, leading to widespread persecution and loss of human life. The impact of these ideas is most notably seen in the atrocities committed during World War II and the Holocaust, which forever scarred the collective memory of humanity.

The author of the document was Philip Johnston, a private citizen who had served as a code talker in World War I. The intended audience was Harry S. Truman, the president of the United States at the time. The document was written on September 12, 1948. The author wrote it to express his opinion on the Berlin blockade and to suggest a possible solution to end it peacefully. The author proposed that Truman should offer to hold a plebiscite (a direct vote by the people) in Berlin to let the citizens decide whether they wanted to be part of East Germany or West Germany. The author claimed that this would be a fair and democratic way to resolve the conflict and that it would expose the Soviet Union’s tyranny and aggression. The author also praised Truman for his leadership and courage in dealing with the crisis. Based on the tone and content of the document, it seems that Philip Johnston was a supporter of Truman and his policies.

2. How was the idea of race infused in the laws and policies?

3. How did actions taken by individuals and communities add force to Nazi policies?

4. What overall impact do you think these laws has on Jews? On German society mote broadly ?

5. What other system or laws do you know about that has dehumanized people, whether or not it led to genocide?

Answers

1. The main purposes of the Nazi antisemitic laws and policies were to create their ideal society filled with only "worthy" and "superior" people.  Basically, eliminating anyone and everyone who didn't fit their ideal model of a person.

2. The idea of race was infused in the laws and policies because the German's/Nazi's saw almost every group that wasn't white and Christian/catholic (I think those were the 2 religions) as inferior.  They saw themselves as the superior race and made it a recognizable saying from that time period.

3. The actions taken by individuals and communities added force to Nazi policies because they reenforced the hatred and segregation and would carry out acts of hateful, spite filled violence on the groups that were targeted.

4. The overall impact that those laws had on Jews was horrifically negative.  It resulted in the mass murder (the Holocaust) of anyone of that religion or inferior race (a genocide).  I'm not sure what you mean by "On German society mote broadly", sorry.

5. There are a lot of other systems and laws that have dehumanized people.  One would be segregation.  Another would be locking immigrants in cages at the border and separating them from their families.  Forcing Jews to wear The Star of David on their clothes or LGBTQIA+ people to wear a pink triangle on their clothes, as if they were a animal being branded.  Some have led to genocides and others have not.  It all depends on where the majority and strongest group of people with power lie for each issue.

Hope this helps - just my best guess! :)  If you use any on these, please paraphrase!!! :]
