In your opinion, what makes a situation fair? Cite evidence from this text, your own
experience, and other literature, art, or history in your answer.

Answers

Answer 1

What makes a situation fair is the balance of risks and rewards for all parties involved.

The official definition for the word fair is to treat people equal, without discriminating against any party involved. In my opinion, this is a valid definition, I believe that fairness is when all parties involved share the same risks and receive the same rewards.

However, this is not a concept that can be defined so simply. There are situations in which it would be unfair to give equal rewards, perhaps in the case that one party provided more work or effort than others.

There are many everyday examples of fairness, some may be:

Sharing limited resourcesTaking turnsBeing truthful

etc.

This is why in my opinion, though there are situations where this definition may change, fairness is balancing the risks and the benefits for all parties involved in a given situation.

Answers

Answer:

As I walked past the deserted park on my way home, something caught my attention. It was a blue glove lying on the ground, almost covered by the fallen leaves.  I made my way towards it, curious to find out who the owner could be. The glove looked unfamiliar, and it appeared to be made from high-quality leather. I picked it up and turned it inside out, hoping to find some identification. But there was nothing, not even a little tag or a logo. As I stood there, debating whether to take the glove home or leave it there, I heard a faint whisper behind me. I turned around to see a shadowy figure emerging from the nearby bushes. My heart pounded faster as I realized that I was in a potentially dangerous situation. "Excuse me," the figure said, somewhat hesitantly. "That's my glove." May I have it back?" The voice belonged to a woman, and her face was partially obscured by a scarf wrapped tightly around her head. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if she was telling the truth. "Can you prove it?" I asked, holding up her glove. She stepped closer, and I could see that her eyes were dark and piercing. "There's a small "M" etched inside. That's how you'll know it's mine." I turned the glove inside out, and there it was—a tiny "M" sewn discreetly into the lining. I handed the glove back to the woman, somewhat relieved that the situation had ended peacefully. "Do you need any help?" I asked, hoping to ease my mind about the whole ordeal. The woman shook her head. "No, thank you. I was just passing by and must have dropped it. "I appreciate your kindness." With that, she vanished back into the darkness, leaving me with more questions than answers. Who was she? Why was she wearing a scarf on a warm autumn evening? Was she a criminal hiding from the law? I shook off the thought and made my way back home, my mind still racing with curiosity. As I lay in bed that night, I couldn't help but wonder what other secrets the blue glove held—and what other secrets I might uncover if I kept searching.

The Song of Wandering Aengus

by William Butler Yeats

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And someone called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done,
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.
