Answers

The areas of the trapezoid is 50 units².

How to find the area of a trapezoid?

The trapezoid PQRS have bases 10 and 12 units respectively. The height of the trapezoid is unknown. Let's find the area of the trapezoid as follows:

area of trapezoid = 1 / 2 (a + b)h

where

a and b are the basesh = height of the trapezoid

Therefore,

a = 10 units

b = 15 units

Using Pythagoras's theorem,

5² - 3² = h²

h = √25 - 9

h = √16

h = 4 units

area of trapezoid = 1 / 2 (10 + 15)4

area of trapezoid = 1 / 2 × 25 × 4

area of trapezoid = 100 / 2

463 of 615 people who were asked question 1 favored the law. 403 of 585 people who were asked question 2 favored the law. Is there evidence that the phrasing may have influenced responses

Answers

Using the z-distribution, as we are working with a proportion, it is found that there is evidence that the phrasing may have influenced responses.

What are the hypotheses tested?

At the null hypothesis, it is tested if there is no difference between the proportions, that is:

\(H_0: p_1 - p_2 = 0\)

At the alternative hypothesis, it is tested if there is difference, that is:

\(H_1: p_1 - p_2 \neq 0\)

What is the mean and the standard of the distribution of the differences of sample proportions?

For each sample, we have that:

\(p_1 = \frac{463}{615} = 0.7528, s_1 = \sqrt{\frac{0.7528(0.2472)}{615}} = 0.0174\)

\(p_2 = \frac{403}{585} = 0.6889, s_2 = \sqrt{\frac{0.6889(0.3111)}{585}} = 0.0191\)

For the distribution of differences, we have that:

\(\overline{p} = p_1 - p_2 = 0.7528 - 0.6889 = 0.0639\)

\(s = \sqrt{s_1^2 + s_2^2} = \sqrt{0.0174^2 + 0.0191^2} = 0.0258\)

What is the test statistic?

It is given by:

\(z = \frac{\overline{p} - \mu}{s}\)

In which \(\mu = 0\) is the value tested at the null hypothesis.

Hence:

\(z = \frac{\overline{p} - \mu}{s}\)

\(z = \frac{0.0639 - 0}{0.0258}\)

\(z = 2.47\)

What is the decision?

Considering a two-tailed test, as we are testing if the proportion is different of a value, and a significance level of 0.05, the critical value is \(|z^{\ast}| = 1.96\).

Since the absolute value of the test statistic is greater than the critical value, it is found that there is evidence that the phrasing may have influenced responses.

The expression ⁵√p¹¹ is equivalent to the given expression. The correct answer would be an option (C).

What are exponential expressions?

Exponential expressions, as the name indicates, involve exponents. We already know that the exponent of a number (base) specifies how many times the number (base) has been multiplied.

The exponential expression is given in the question, as follows:

\(p^\frac{11}{5}\)

We have to determine the equivalent expression to the given expression.

As per option (C), we have

Find angle × Find angle y

Find angle Find angle y

Answers

Answer:

Angle x is 64 degrees. Angle y is 128.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find angle x:

In an isosceles triangle, the base angles are always congruent (equal). Since we know that one of the base angles is 64, and x is also a base angle, x is 64 degrees as well.

To find angle y:

Again, in an isosceles triangle, the base angles are always congruent. Since we know that one of the base angles is 26, we know that the other base angle is also 26. Then, to find the last angle (y), you use the triangle angle sum theorem which states that all angles in a triangle add up to 180. To figure out angle y, you do 180-26-26 to get 128. So angle y is 128 degrees.

Angle x=64 degrees because the two angles of the triangle are equal. 26+26=52.180-56-=124. Angle y=124

A hot air balloon descended 3240 feet in an hour. Find the change in altitude per minute?

Answers

An hour is the equivalent of 60 minutes. Because the hot air balloon descended 3,240 feet in an hour, we can set up an equation to represent this:

3,240 / 60 = 54

Therefore, the change in altitude per minute is 54 feet.
Unit Analysis

Unit analysis is a tool that we can use to convert units. It involves multiplying the original number by a fraction to cancel out units.

Solving the Question

We're given:

\(\dfrac{3240\hspace{4}feet}{hour}\)

We also know that:

\(\dfrac{hour}{60\hspace{4}minutes}\)

Multiply the two to cancel out the hour:

\(\dfrac{3240\hspace{4}feet}{hour}\times\dfrac{hour}{60\hspace{4}minutes}\\\\=\dfrac{3240\hspace{4}feet}{60 minutes}\)

Simplify:

\(=\dfrac{54\hspace{4}feet}{minute}\)

Answer: its D because Jews (Hebrew: יְהוּדִים, ISO 259-2: Yehudim, Israeli pronunciation: [jehuˈdim]) or Jewish people are an ethnoreligious group,[10] nation or ethnos[11][12] originating from the ancient Israelites[13][14][15] and Hebrews[16][17][18] of historical Israel and Judah. Jewish ethnicity, nationhood, and religion are strongly interrelated,[19][20] as Judaism is the ethnic religion of the Jewish people, although its observance varies from strict to none.[21][22]

Jews originated as an ethnic and religious group in the Middle East during the second millennium BCE,[9] in a part of the Levant known as the Land of Israel.[23] The Merneptah Stele of ancient Egypt appears to confirm the existence of a people of Israel somewhere in Canaan as far back as the 13th century BCE (Late Bronze Age).[24][25] The Israelites, as an outgrowth of the Canaanite population,[26] consolidated their hold in the region with the emergence of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Some consider that these Canaan-sedentary Israelites melded with incoming nomadic groups known as the "Hebrews".[27] The experience of life in the Jewish diaspora, from the Babylonian captivity and exile (though few sources mention this period in detail[28]) to the Roman occupation and exile, and the historical relations between Jews and their homeland in the Levant thereafter became a major feature of Jewish history, identity, culture, and memory.[29]

In the following millennia, Jewish diaspora communities coalesced into three major ethnic subdivisions according to where their ancestors settled: the Ashkenazim (Central and Eastern Europe), the Sephardim (initially in the Iberian Peninsula), and the Mizrahim (Middle East and North Africa).[30][31] Prior to World War II, the global Jewish population reached a peak of 16.7 million,[32] representing around 0.7 percent of the world population at that time. During World War II, approximately 6 million Jews throughout Europe were systematically murdered by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.[33][34] Since then, the population has slowly risen again, and as of 2018, was estimated to be at 14.6–17.8 million by the Berman Jewish DataBank,[1] comprising less than 0.2 percent of the total world population.[35][note 1] The modern State of Israel is the only country where Jews form a majority of the population.

Explanation:

Plug n = 2 into the 2nd equation. We'll involve f(1) = 2.

f(n)=f(n-1)^2-3

f(2) = [ f(2-1) ]^2-3

f(2) = [ f(1) ]^2 - 3

f(2) = (2)^2 - 3 .... replace f(1) with 2; since f(1) = 2

f(2) = 4 - 3

f(2) = 1

For the last group of steps, we plug in n = 3.

We'll involve f(2) = 1.

f(n) = [ f(n-1) ]^2-3

f(3) = [ f(3-1) ]^2 - 3

f(3) = [ f(2) ]^2 - 3

f(3) = (1)^2 - 3

Sine

The sine of the angle is the ratio ...

  Sin = Opposite/Hypotenuse

We can go to the trouble to figure the hypotenuse, or we can choose the only suitable answer from the list provided. (It is the one marked already.)

The leg lengths of the triangle shown are 8 and 15, with leg 15 being opposite angle A. This is the first clue that the ratio will have 15 in the numerator. Only answer choice B matches.

Check

The value of the sine function is never greater than 1, eliminating answer choices A, C, and E, leaving choices B and D.

Since the side opposite angle A is the longest of the two legs, we know that angle A is more than 45°, and its sine is more than √2/2. That means choice D can be eliminated, since it is less than 1/2.

The sine of angle A is 15/17.

STORIES OF USEFUL INVENTIONS, excerptBy S. E. Forman1911THE MATCHThere never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by natureby a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble.In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar.What is the main idea of this text? Firebrands were hard to keep lit. Nature provided fire to early humans. The history of the match is interesting. The match made life easier for humans.
