Which question would be the best high-level scientific question?

A. How many giraffes live in Africa?

B. Who made the first microscope?

C. How long ago did dinosaurs live on Earth?

D. Does the amount of salt in water affect the temperature at which it boils?

The answer to this question is D. Does the amount of salt in water affect the temperature at which it boils?

Explanation:

Scientific questions focus on testing a possible explanation (hypothesis) about a phenomenon or helping scientists to better understand a phenomenon. Moreover, because these are part of the scientific method, high-level questions can only be answered through experimentation or observation and they usually contain two or more variables.

These features occur only in option B because this question can only be answered through experiments; for example, by boiling water with different amounts of salt and recording the boiling temperature; this helps scientists to understand how salt affects certain properties and this includes two variables (the amount of salt vs boiling temperature.)

How do we grow food?

Answers

Answer:

Food can be grown using various methods, including traditional farming, hydroponics, and aquaponics. Conventional farming involves growing crops in soil using natural sunlight and irrigation. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants in a nutrient-rich solution rather than soil. Aquaponics combines hydroponics and aquaculture, where fish are raised in tanks, and their waste is used to fertilize plants in the same system. Another method is Aeroponics which is growing plants in an air or mist environment.

Which of the following serves as relevant evidence supporting the claim that Mt. McKinley can not be given a specific indigenous name?

Answers

The evidence supporting the claim that Mt. McKinley cannot be given a specific indigenous name includes the fact that it has been a symbol of American national identity for a long time. However, in 2015, the name was officially changed to Denali to honor the indigenous people who first inhabited the region.

Mount McKinley is an iconic natural landmark of the United States of America that is located in Alaska, with its name meaning “The Great One” and “Denali” in two different indigenous languages of Alaska. The question of whether Mount McKinley should be renamed to its native names has been a topic of debate for many years now. There is evidence to support both sides of the argument, and the debate continues to rage on.

The indigenous name of the mountain is Denali, which translates to “the high one” or “the great one” in Athabaskan. As an iconic natural landmark of the USA, it is not only important to consider the indigenous names of the mountain but also the history behind it. Evidence supporting the claim that Mt. McKinley cannot be given a specific indigenous name includes that the mountain is a symbol of American national identity and that it has had its name for a long time.

The name of the mountain was officially changed from Mount McKinley to Denali in 2015 after much controversy, and the park is now officially known as Denali National Park and Preserve. Despite the name change, some people still refer to it as Mount McKinley. The name of the mountain, Denali, is a way to honor the indigenous people who first inhabited the region.

How would you describe the works of neoclassical?

Neoclassicism is defined by simplicity of form, muted hues, a narrow sense of space, as well as strong horizontal and vertical lines that make the subject matter appear ageless and traditional.

The  Modest Proposal's true message is one which is disguised as an economic dissertation, suggests that Ireland's poverty be reduced by killing its underprivileged children and selling them to the English landowners as food.

Therefore, Alexander Pope wrote The R. of the Lock, as a a mock-epic that parodies the aristocracy in 18th-century London. The main character of the narrative is Belinda, whose lock of hair is amputated at a gathering of people.

Write an informative essay on the Great Chicago Fire.

Answers

Answer:

got 100%

Explanation:

The Chicago fire of 1871 was one of the most devastating fires in US history. Many people believe that the fire started in the barn of Partick and Catherine O’Leary on the southwest side of the city, and it burned for 36 hours leaving people's homes and businesses destroyed. Many lives were lost causing a huge mix of emotions of devastation and sadness. What was the cause of the fire to grow so big and spiral out of control as it did?

The main things for a fire to start and sustain itself are fuel, oxygen and heat. Luckily for Chicago, they had all three of these ingredients. Since Chicago was built on a swamp, and other materials were too expensive, Chicago's infrastructure including its sidewalks and streets were made from wood. Because Chicago had experienced a long drought in their summer year the wood became dry, as a result it ended up serving as fuel for the fire. The surrounding area was full of houses that were close together, this helped the fire spread rapidly jumping from house to house.

At the time of the fire Chicago had strong winds coming from the southwest. Due to the sudden rise in heat the winds increased quickly. This could be seen in the novel The Great Fire when it states, “the stronger winds, the ones people remembered the best, were probably caused by rising consecutive heat” (Murphy 1). This made things so much worse for Chicago. Those winds carried out burning debris, which would later fall on top of the dry wood located in other areas. Those areas would soon also catch on fire. Making things worse than they already where firefighters at the time did not have the proper equipment to fight these fires and to top it all off, they were sent to the WRONG location. This whole entire catastrophe was the cause of the fire spreading quickly and uncontrollably.

After multiple hours of burning a fire would eventually come to a stop since there is flammable left. That’s exactly what happened with the Chicago fire. Open areas in the north end of the city helped stop the fire because there was simply nothing left to burn in that area. Fire fighters ended up using explosives as a last-minute recourse to blow up abandoned buildings and homes in the area to help stop the spread. Finally, it started to rain which helped the firefighters put out the fire entirely.

The after math of fire had left people devastated, heartbroken, and sad. Over 100,000 people were left without a home or a job. 300 people were estimated dead, 100,000 homes and 17,000 buildings including businesses were all destroyed. The damage fee came out to be 200 million dollars which would be around 4 billion dollars in today's money.

In November of 1871, Chicagoans had rebuilt their city and elected a mayor who would enforce stricter building and fire rules. Architectes came together to start building and designing the first skyscrapers. This resulted in people moving to Chicago to help out with the building process. The population had grown to have 500,000 citizens and a decade later the city was back to normal with over a million people.

The way that the author support the claim that for the purpose of reading e-books, e-readers are better than other digital devices is option A: He supports it well because he describes the ways e-readers offer an improved reading experience.

Three sentences from the passage that best support this answer are:

A. "The screens allow people to read comfortably in different kinds of light, including bright sunlight."B: "An e-reader serves one primary purpose: the reading of e-books."C. "Also, e-readers don't heat up in the same way as, say, a laptop."

What is the e-readers  about?

This question has two parts. First, answer Part A. Then, answer Part B.

Part A

1

The Rise of the E-Reader

Read any good electronic books lately? If so, you're not alone. The popularity of electronic books-perhaps better known as e-books-has grown rapidly in recent years. E-readers are now giving print books serious competition. They may even make paper books obsolete1 someday. An e-book is a digital version of a book-the electronic equivalent of a printed ink and paper book. E-books have actually been around since the 1970s. It wasn't until 2010, however, that e-book sales began to overtake print book sales at some large booksellers.

2

Why did it take so long for e-books to catch on in a big way? One major factor was the rather recent development of the electronic reader-or e-reader. Most people these days already do a lot of reading on screens, including desktop computers, laptops, and "smart" phones. What sets apart e-readers from those other devices?

3 An e-reader serves one primary purpose: the reading of e-books. One major advantage of e-readers over other digital devices is that their screens more closely imitate the look of ink on paper. This includes sharpness of type, overall contrast, and lack of glare. The screens allow people to read comfortably in different kinds of light, including bright sunlight. A new technology called e-ink (for "electronic ink," of course) is what makes this possible. E-readers also have very low energy needs compared with other devices, so a person can spend a week reading on a single battery charge. Also, e-readers don't heat up in the same way as, say, a laptop.

4 The e-reader didn't start making waves with the reading public until around 2006, when the first e-reader using e-ink appeared. Since then, dozens more e-readers have appeared on the market. Major booksellers sell many of the most popular e-readers. You can understand why: e-readers aren't just a new way to read books; they're a new way to sell them.

Although e-readers are changing the way many people prefer to read, people who love to read will likely agree on one thing: reading is one of life's great pleasures. And that's why what you read will always matter more than how you read it.

How well does the author support the claim that for the purpose of reading e-books, e-readers are better than other digital devices? He supports it well because he lists flaws that certain devices have when readers try to read e-books on them.

He supports it poorly because he fails to explain why other devices are not as good.

He supports it well because he describes the ways e-readers offer an improved reading experience.

O He supports it poorly because he fails to explain why they are a superior choice.

Part B

Select three sentences from the passage that best support the answer in Part A.

"The screens allow people to read comfortably in different kinds of light, including bright sunlight."

D "An e-reader serves one primary purpose: the reading of e-books."

D "Also, e-readers don't heat up in the same way as, say, a laptop."

"Most people these days already do a lot of reading on screens, including desktop computers, laptops, and 'smart' phones." "Since the books are digital, e-readers don't contribute to consuming ink and paper."

OA. Those old-timers were rather womanish, some of them, he thought. All a man had to do was to keep his head, and he was all right. Any man who was a man could travel alone.

Explanation:

Jack London's short story "To Build A Fire" revolves around the story of a solitary hiker and his dog and their efforts to get to the camp where their friends were stationed at. Despite the warnings from experts, the young, stubborn man went forward with the hike only to come to his death.

Among the given lines from the text, option A shows how the man is arrogant and overconfident about himself. Moreover, he seemed to be arrogant with his declaration that "those old-timers were rather womanish".
