The QuestionsAccording To Kennan How Do The Soviets View The Post War World? How Will They Push The World

Answers

Answer 1

The Soviets viewed the post war world (WWII) with complete disdain and distrust, particularly from the standpoint of the other emerging global power in the form of the United States. This is essentially stated within the Part 1(a), quote:

USSR still lives in antagonistic "capitalist encirclement" with which in the long run there can be no permanent peaceful coexistence.

After all, the USSR and satellite countries as well as allies closely followed the policy of Communism, which upheld a totalitarian government with the benefits bar none but equalized to each and every citizen. On the other hand, the view of the United States and Capitalism was that of the oppression of the middle class and lower class, in that the rich continues to get richer, while the poor stay poor (a classic example is the viewpoints of the Democratic Party today).

In accordance, the soviets push for a global expansion to take all of the world under the wings of Communism, by first creating a buffer statehood using the eastern European nation bloc (known as the Iron Curtain), and to ally themselves with other communist countries across the world, (including, but not limited too, Venezuela, Cuba, China, North Vietnam, North Korea, etc).

With a globalistic expansion in mind, these plans are extremely important on the developments of a cold war, particularly with the United State's policy of containment in place. After all, when a unstoppable force meets a unmovable object, the two will clash. Examples of this can be found through out both country's policies, including their policy towards the Korean War, Vietnam War, the Cuban missile crisis, etc. With each other at opposite ends, yet withholding their will to destroy the entire world, the superpowers pursued a cold war with the help of proxy wars.

Of course, the ending of these wars can be justified by how the world is viewed today. The United States became the sole world power, and the USSR disintegrated into individual sovereign states. This is one of the more major examples of the failure of Communism, and that of the virtues of Capitalism.

Answers

The correct option is C. the falling illiteracy rate to just over 10 percent by 1900. The success of public schools in the post-Civil War era is best evidenced by the falling illiteracy rate to just over 10 percent by 1900.

The establishment and expansion of public schools during this time played a significant role in providing education to a larger portion of the population, including both children and adults.

As a result, the overall literacy rates in the United States improved significantly.

Public schools were instrumental in reducing illiteracy by providing accessible and compulsory education for children, thereby increasing the literacy rates among the younger generation.

Additionally, public schools also offered adult education programs, contributing to the improvement in literacy rates among adults.

While other options such as the large numbers of students graduating from public schools, the decline in popularity of parochial and religiously affiliated schools, the movement of men into the teaching profession.

And the increasing number of average Americans attending college can also be indicators of the impact and success of public schools, the most direct and compelling evidence lies in the falling illiteracy rates achieved through widespread public education efforts.

Roosevelt's and Churchill's insistence on the absolute and "unconditional surrender" of Germany was rooted in their belief that the Nazi regime posed an existential threat to Western civilization and had to be decisively defeated. This demand meant that Germany would have to surrender without any preconditions, which was a departure from previous conflicts where surrender terms were negotiated. The two leaders felt that anything short of unconditional surrender would leave the possibility of a resurgent Germany and could lead to a repeat of the devastating consequences of World War I. The demand for unconditional surrender also reflected the resolve and determination of the Allies to achieve victory at any cost. It was a bold and risky strategy, but one that ultimately proved successful in bringing the war to an end and setting the stage for the post-war world order.

Answers

Union forces never attacked richmond during the peninsula campaign because union generals decided that capturing richmond was no longer an important goal.

In the spring and summer of 1862, during the American Civil War, Major General George B. McClellan conducted a significant Union offensive against Richmond, the Confederate capital. McClellan planned an advance toward Richmond via the peninsula created by the York and James Rivers after transporting his Army of the Potomac by boat to Fort Monroe on the Atlantic coast in late April. The Union general waited until late May before taking action since he had a tendency of repeatedly underestimating his enemy's numbers.

Confederate General Joseph Johnston was hurt and Robert E. Lee took over during the unproductive Battle of Seven Pines, which marked the end of the first phase of the Peninsula Campaign.

How many overseas possessions that the United States acquired as a result of the Spanish-American War can you identify? Was this truly a world-wide "empire?" In what different ways did the U.S. deal with or administer these new lands?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

Spanish-American War in 1898, the United States acquired several overseas possessions. The major ones include:

The Philippines: The United States acquired the Philippines from Spain through the Treaty of Paris in 1898. The U.S. initially intended to grant the Philippines independence, but instead, it became an American territory until it gained independence in 1946.

Guam: Guam, a Pacific island, was ceded to the United States by Spain under the Treaty of Paris. It remains an unincorporated territory of the United States today.

Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico, another Caribbean island, also came under American control through the Treaty of Paris. It became an unincorporated territory and remains a U.S. territory to this day.

Cuba: While the United States played a significant role in the Spanish-American War, Cuba did not become a U.S. possession. The U.S. supported Cuban independence, and after the war, Cuba gained independence but with certain provisions in the Platt Amendment that allowed the U.S. to intervene in Cuban affairs.

Other smaller possessions: The United States also acquired smaller territories such as the Wake Island, the Philippines' Guam, and Samoa.

Regarding whether this was a truly worldwide "empire," it depends on how you define an empire. While the United States did acquire several overseas possessions, it did not expand its control extensively to all corners of the globe like traditional empires such as the British or the Roman Empire. However, it did mark a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy and demonstrated American interests in projecting power beyond its continental borders.

The United States dealt with these new lands in different ways based on their strategic importance and cultural context. In the case of the Philippines, the U.S. initially sought to establish colonial administration and implemented policies to "Americanize" the islands. Over time, the U.S. adopted a policy of gradual self-government, eventually granting the Philippines independence. Puerto Rico and Guam became unincorporated territories, with the United States maintaining control but offering certain levels of self-governance.
