"A Dog's Mistake"
by Andrew Barton Paterson
He had drifted in among us as a straw drifts with the tide, He was just a wand'ring mongrel from the weary world outside; He was not aristocratic, being mostly ribs and hair, With a hint of spaniel parents and a touch of native bear.
He was very poor and humble and content with what he got, So we fed him bones and biscuits, till he heartened up a lot; Then he growled and grew aggressive, treating orders with disdain, Till at last he bit the butcher, which would argue want of brain.
Now the butcher, noble fellow, was a sport beyond belief, And instead of bringing actions he brought half a shin of beef, Which he handed on to Fido, who received it as a right And removed it to the garden, where he buried it at night.
Twas the means of his undoing, for my wife, who'd stood his friend, To adopt a slang expression, "went in off the deepest end," For among the pinks and pansies, the gloxinias and the gorse He had made an excavation like a graveyard for a horse.
Then we held a consultation which decided on his fate: Twas in anger more than sorrow that we led him to the gate, And we handed him the beef-bone as provision for the day, Then we opened wide the portal and we told him, "On your way."
Question #1
Based on the first stanza, what can the reader infer about the dog?
He was a bit aggressive towards those in his environment.
He moved as if he was exhausted and unsure where to go.
He was smart enough to find food on his own.
He had no manners because he had not been around people.
Question #2
Which three lines from the poem support the inference that the dog becomes unappreciative of the help he is receiving?
"He was very poor and humble and content with what he got," (line 5)
"Then he growled and grew aggressive, treating orders with disdain," (line 7)
"Till at last he bit the butcher, which would argue want of brain." (line 8)
"Which he handed on to Fido, who received it as a right" (line 11)
"And removed it to the garden, where he buried it at night." (line12)
"And we handed him the beef-bone as provision for the day," (line 19)
A} Based on the first stanza, the reader infers about the dog He moved as if he was exhausted and unsure where to go.

1) Based on the first stanza, the reader can infer about the dog from the "A Dog's Mistake" by Andrew Barton Paterson that He moved as if he was exhausted and unsure where to go. The correct answer is Option B.
2) "Which he handed on to Fido, who received it as a right" is the line from the poem that support the inference that the dog becomes unappreciative of the help he is receiving. Therefore, the correct answer is Option B.
1) In the first stanza, the description of the dog as having "drifted in among us as a straw drifts with the tide" suggests that the dog arrived in the group in a somewhat aimless and passive manner, much like a piece of driftwood carried by the tide. This conveys a sense of exhaustion, implying that the dog might be tired and lacking direction. The phrases "weary world outside" and "not aristocratic, being mostly ribs and hair" emphasize the dog's worn-out appearance. Hence, the correct inference is that the dog moved as if he was exhausted and unsure where to go.
2) The line "Which he handed on to Fido, who received it as a right" (line 11) supports the inference that the dog becomes unappreciative of the help he is receiving. Indicating that the dog, Fido, has started to take the food (the half shin of beef) for granted and as if it's his entitlement, rather than showing gratitude to the butcher and the people around him. The phrase "received it as a right" implies that the dog no longer views the food as a generous gesture or a favor, but rather as something he deserves without any sense of appreciation. This shift in attitude suggests a lack of gratitude and becoming unappreciative of the assistance provided to them.

"I think so, yes," Matilda said. "Are you sure?" "Why yes, Miss Honey, I'm fairly sure." "What is it then, two times four hundred and eighty-seven?"
Which statement is best supported by the dialogue?
- Matilda is very good at multiplication, but she does not know how to divide.
- Miss Honey desperately wants Matilda to get a wrong answer.
- Miss Honey is stunned by Matilda’s ability to multiply high numbers.
- Matilda wants to impress Miss Honey with her multiplication skills.
Miss Honey is stunned by Matilda's ability to multiply high numbers.
Answer:
Miss Honey is stunned by Matilda’s ability to multiply high numbers
Explanation:
Miss Honey seems to want to know if Matilda can multiply high numbers. She says "Are you sure?" as if she doubts Matilda's ability and then asks her to prove herself. Matilda does not seem as though she's trying to impress Miss Honey since she seems rather relaxed in the dialogue. She says, "I think so, yes" and "I'm fairly sure" which shows that she believes she can do it but isn't necessarily eager for this line of questioning.

Hey can anyone pls answer dis with one body paragraph and the link of the source you used
This is a good question that is not easily answered. If it was easy, then the problem would likely already be solved. One approach is to reduce the amount of guns through various laws. Proponents would mention that with less guns on the streets, it likely would lead to less violence. However, many would argue that the guns can easily come from out of state for instance. Also, there's the second amendment which is important to a person's civil rights.
Another approach could be through education programs and job creation. If more people are pulled out of poverty, then they might have less reason to fight. This might be a more effective approach compared to gun control mentioned earlier. Though in my opinion, perhaps both tools are needed on some level. Of course I'm not advocating the outright ban of guns or anything. Instead, there should be more thorough background checks and loopholes should be closed up to avoid mentally ill people from able to access guns. In addition, people convicted of domestic abuse cases shouldn't be able to access guns (or at the very least should follow a strict process to prove they have been rehabilitated before they can acess guns).
Yet another approach is to improve healthcare. Specifically mental healthcare. Many plans only provide coverage for things like checkups and physicals, but often leave out things like therapy. I think the trend is starting to reverse course and mental health is slowly starting to be considered as part of overall wellness. Though there needs to be more effort put into helping treat mental illness and diagnosing it. This would hopefully prevent future gun tragedies.
Once again, there's no single magical solution to fix this complicated problem. It has been going on for quite a while, and it's not unique to the city of Philadelphia. Other big cities have crime as well of course. It's the unfortunate part of what it means to live in a city of that size. Though it might be possible to reduce crime if resources are allocated properly and spent efficiently. One last thing to mention is housing which I suppose is strongly related to the jobs thing I mentioned earlier. If housing could be more affordable, then it could reduce stress/tension that often leads to violence. This can be applied to easing traffic congestion as well.
As with many governments, red tape gets in the way of a lot of what is discussed from being implemented. Many people have their own view of what would solve this problem. Disagreements clog up process. So perhaps part of the overall should involve a process to streamline the changes so they are more efficient, rather than take years to implement.
Side note: I didn't have a source because I'm just writing from what I know about the matter. Also, when writing to your teacher be sure to use your own words of course.

What is one way in which traditional storytelling is different from modernist stories
One way in which traditional storytelling differs from Modernist stories is that Modernist stories focus on the individual's experience, whereas traditional stories focused on an objective story.
Modernists did not believe in absolute truth -- they believed the truth varied from person to person. Therefore, Modernist stories are more likely to be told from a first-person perspective. The use of a stream-of-consciousness technique is also common in Modernist literature, as this technique takes the reader into the mind of a character so that the reader can experience the character's subjective reality.
Traditional stories, on the other hand, often had an objective narrator describing the events of the novel, events which often had a clearly definied beginning, middle, and end. Because Modernists believed life was not so orderly, their stories did not feature this traditional plot structure.

Answer:
Bullying is one of the most prevailing issues faced by the education system in South Africa. Though this problem exists globally, it seems to be increasing exponentially in our country's schools. Countless students have been affected by bullying, both physically and mentally, leading to its devastating consequences. It is the duty of the Department of Basic Education, school authorities, and parents to act as stake holders and take responsibility for this continuous and detrimental issue.
The first stakeholder that must assume responsibility for bullying is the Department of Basic Education. One of the essential duties of the Department must be to ensure the safety of all students within the school premises. This includes protecting students from any form of harassment, intimidation, and bullying. The Department should formulate policies and enforce strict disciplinary action against perpetrators of bullying. By providing workshops and training sessions, the Department of Basic Education can educate teachers and students alike about preventing and recognizing different bullying tactics. These measures would enable students to report instances of bullying without fear of being victimized, ultimately creating a safer environment.
School authorities, including teachers and the administrative body, holds a significant responsibility for preventing bullying. Educators can use classroom lessons that create empathy and respect for others, making it more unlikely for students to participate in bullying behaviour. Teachers must create a classroom culture where bullying is condemned, and students feel safe to report instances. Schools can also encourage the installation of surveillance cameras to monitor students and aid in preventing bullying incidents. Additionally, school authorities must enforce strict disciplinary action against offenders of bullying, ensuring that all students are protected within the school premises.
Lastly, parents have a significant role in ensuring that their children do not engage in bullying behaviours. It is the parent's responsibility to instill values and morals in their child. Unfortunately, some parents are not aware of their child's behaviour and its impact on others. Parents must have open communication with their children, making them aware of the harm and negative effects of bullying. Additionally, these parents should teach their children to resolve conflicts without resorting to bullying or violence. By working together with the school, parents can provide support in creating an anti-bullying culture that emphasizes inclusivity and respect for all individuals.
In conclusion, bullying is an ever-present issue that necessitates a combined effort from everyone responsible for ensuring the welfare of the children. The Department of Basic Education, school authorities, and parents must assume responsibility for the safety of children in their care. The Department of Basic Education must create and enforce policies against bullying, while schools should create a classroom culture that explicitly condemns bullying. Parents should communicate openly about the negative effects of bullying with their children, teaching their children, empathy and conflict resolution skills. By working together, South Africa can successfully address the issue of increasing bullying cases in our schools and provide a safer environment for future generations to come.
