T/F purcell’s dido and aeneas was first performed in a public opera house.

Answers

The answer is False, Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" was not first performed in a public opera house.

Henry Purcell's opera "Dido and Aeneas" was not initially performed in a public opera house. It was composed and first performed in a private girls' boarding school, probably around 1688 or 1689. The opera was likely written for a performance at Josias Priest's school for young gentlewomen in London. The specific details of the first performance are not well-documented, but it is believed to have taken place in an intimate setting within the school premises.

The private nature of the first performance of "Dido and Aeneas" is significant because it reflects the context in which Purcell composed the opera. The work was not intended for public theatrical productions but rather for a small-scale performance within a specific social setting. It was likely performed by the students of the school and possibly some professional singers.

While "Dido and Aeneas" is now recognized as a seminal work in the history of English opera, it did not receive widespread public attention or performances in opera houses until many years after its initial composition and private performance.

Now, the moon orbits the Earth, right? Wrong. At least a little wrong. The moon and Earth orbit each other in an unequal partnership. Think of a large man swinging a small child around in a fun non-abusive way. The kid does most of the swinging, but the man is influenced by the mass of the child. Even stars are influenced by the far lesser mass of their planets. This is the primary means used to detect extrasolar planets. Answer:

The Federal Reserve's effect on the economy is visible when the interests rate target are maintained and the money flow is adjusted as needed to keep the rate at the desired level.

Varying the supply of reserves and changing the Federal Funds rate, the Fed can raise or lower interest rates in the economy. If it wants to stimulate the economy, it lowers interest rates to make loans cheaper. This encourages financial business investments and consumption. If it wants to slow the economy, raises interest rates.

King George III speaks to Parliament of American rebellion

On October 26, 1775, King George III speaks before both houses of the British Parliament to discuss growing concern about the rebellion in America, which he viewed as a traitorous action against himself and Great Britain. He began his speech by reading a “Proclamation of Rebellion” and urged Parliament to move quickly to end the revolt and bring order to the colonies. The king spoke of his belief that “many of these unhappy people may still retain their loyalty, and may be too wise not to see the fatal consequence of this usurpation, and wish to resist it, yet the torrent of violence has been strong enough to compel their acquiescence, till a sufficient force shall appear to support them.” With these words, the king gave Parliament his consent to dispatch troops to use against his own subjects, a notion that his colonists believed impossible.

The difference between the two is that under King Georges’ tyranny was that the laws he enforced mostly benefited himself. The colonies were not able to vote or make decisions for themselves which lead to many of the colonists fighting to separate and be its own country. With American democracy, citizens are able to actively be able to make decisions in government rather than someone making the overall decisions without the possibility of a law being recognized as fair or not. The King prevented forms of government and representing the country as a whole, wanting them to be soley relying on him for jobs and salaries. This is much different from the US representative democracy that has 3 separate powers(legislative, executive, & judicial) that each deals with different forms of government. This form of government allows for the citizens to also have a say in what goes on in the country they live in. To the contrary, King George the 3rd did not allow that.

Maize (corn)  crops did the Europeans bring to the New World in the "Columbian Exchange".

While aiding the export of New World goods like sugar, tobacco, cocoa, and potatoes to the Old World, Christopher Columbus also brought horses, sugar plants, and disease to the New World. He took several crops on his later journeys in the hopes that they would flourish there. He brought the well-known European food grains—wheat, barley, and rye—along with his adherents.

In addition, they carried with them a variety of Southeast Asian-originated crops from Mediterranean plantations, including sugar, bananas, and citrus fruits. With time, new crops like wheat, rice, barley, oats, coffee, sugar cane, citrus fruits, melons, and Kentucky bluegrass were brought to the Americas. Wheat was the first crop introduced, which was significant.

Compounds and mixtures share two common characteristics: they both consist of multiple components and exhibit properties that differ from their individual constituents. For instance, compounds like water (H2O) and table salt (NaCl) are composed of distinct elements combined chemically. In contrast, mixtures, such as air, involve the physical combination of different substances without a specific chemical formula. Regardless of their composition, both compounds and mixtures display unique properties that emerge from the interactions among their components. Answer:

The concept of individual rights refers to the freedom each individual possesses to pursue life without interference from other individuals or the government.  A community is a collection of said individuals, with common interests and values, who take up community responsibilities to ensure that the collection holds objective standards that are beneficiary to all.  Even though these concepts are intrinsically linked, in that one cannot survive without the other, there is often a desire to separate them and define where one ends and the other begins.  Human social life can often be seen as a unity of two seemingly contradictory behavioral ideas: status competition and reciprocity.

Individual rights refer to the liberties of individual to pursue freedom and happiness, and that right should not be interfered by other individuals or the government. It is related to ideal of the United States Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson said “A wise and frugal Government shall restrain men from injuring one another, and shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvements.” This statement represents US’s ideal.

How did the Treaty of Versailles contribute to Japanese actions that lead to the outbreak of war in Asia?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

The Treaty of Versailles, which was signed in 1919 at the end of World War I, did have an impact on Japanese actions that eventually led to the outbreak of war in Asia. While the treaty primarily focused on addressing issues related to Germany, its provisions indirectly affected Japan and contributed to the geopolitical climate that fueled Japanese aggression. Here are some key factors:

Shandong Peninsula: The treaty addressed German concessions in China, particularly the Shandong Peninsula, which had been under German control. The treaty transferred control of this territory to Japan instead of returning it to China. This decision caused outrage among the Chinese population and fueled anti-Japanese sentiments, as many believed that Japan, as an ally of the Allied Powers, would support Chinese sovereignty.

Colonial Ambitions: The treaty exposed Japan to the Western concept of colonialism and territorial acquisition. Japan had contributed significantly to the Allied war effort during World War I and had expected greater recognition and rewards. However, the limited gains achieved through the treaty, combined with a desire for resources and territory, led to a sense of frustration and a shift in Japanese foreign policy towards expansionism.

Economic Challenges: The global economic downturn following World War I, combined with the Great Depression in the 1930s, had a severe impact on Japan's economy. The country faced issues such as high unemployment, inflation, and a decline in industrial production. The limitations imposed by the Treaty of Versailles, such as restrictions on Japanese overseas trade and access to resources, further exacerbated these economic challenges. To address these issues, Japan sought to expand its influence and secure resources through aggressive actions in Asia.

Nationalism and Militarism: The perceived unequal treatment under the Treaty of Versailles and the economic challenges fueled nationalism and militarism within Japan. Ultra-nationalist factions gained prominence, advocating for a more assertive foreign policy and expansionism to secure Japan's interests. The military, particularly the Imperial Japanese Army, became increasingly influential in shaping Japan's foreign policy and exerted pressure on the civilian government.

Q. 4 A firm of manufactures, whose books are closed on 31st December purchased machinery for Rs. 50, 000 on 15 January, 2016. Additional Machinery was acquired for Rs. 10, 000 on 1st July, 2017 and for Rs. 16, 466 on 14th April, 2019. Certain machinery, which originally cost Rs. 10, 000 in 2016, was sold for Rs. 5, 000 on 30th June, 2020.

Give the Machinery Account for five years writing off depreciation at 10% by:

(i) Diminishing balance method

(ii) Straight line method

Answers

The cost of machinery for the firm at the end of the year is Rs. 71,466.

To determine the cost of machinery for the firm at the end of the year, we need to calculate the total cost of the machinery purchased and subtract any machinery that was sold.

Total cost of machinery purchased:

Machinery purchased on 15th January, 2016 = Rs. 50,000

Additional machinery purchased on 1st July, 2017 = Rs. 10,000

Additional machinery purchased on 14th April, 2019 = Rs. 16,466

Total cost of machinery purchased = Rs. 50,000 + Rs. 10,000 + Rs. 16,466 = Rs. 76,466

Cost of machinery sold:

Machinery sold on 30th June, 2020 = Rs. 10,000 (original cost) - Rs. 5,000 (sale price) = Rs. 5,000

To determine the cost of machinery at the end of the year, we subtract the cost of machinery sold from the total cost of machinery purchased:

Cost of machinery at the end of the year = Total cost of machinery purchased - Cost of machinery sold

= Rs. 76,466 - Rs. 5,000

= Rs. 71,466

Therefore, the cost of machinery for the firm at the end of the year is Rs. 71,466.
