Distinguish between phonological, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic rules. Provide an example of each.
PLEASE HELP, 70 POINTS, WILL MARK BRAINLIEST!
Answer:
See below
Explanation:
Pragmatic rules tell us what meanings of a word or sentence are appropriate in a given context. e.g. He was choking on his food. He pulled the choke on the lawnmower.
Syntax is the group of rules that create sentence structure. (Grammar rules)
e.g. Walk in the park he did. vs He did walk in the park.
Semantics is basically the study of the meaning of sentences
e.g miserable and unhappy basically mean the same thing, but have different subtle meanings. The tree had unhappy flowers. The tree had miserable flowers. Miserable implies a distaste.
A phonological rule is a formal way of expressing a systematic phonological or morphophonological process or diachronic sound change in language. (this one i had to use wikipedia to figure out.)
e.g. from encyclopedia brittanica
"For example, there is a phonological rule of English that says that a voiceless stop such as /P/ is aspirated when it occurs at the beginning of a word (e.g., in pin), but when it occurs after a voiceless alveolar fricative (i.e., after /S/), it is unaspirated (e.g., in spin)."

2. What aspects of Inuit identity are portrayed in this movie brother Bear?
Several aspects of Inuit identity are portrayed in this movie brother Bear. Even though the movie had a lot of kid-friendly features, such two entertaining talking moose, the Inuit cultural aspects are astonishingly well illustrated.
The movie did a good job of accurately portraying the Inuit way of life overall. The shamanic influences, animal spirit totems, retribution rituals, and musical ceremony practices were the elements that fit together the best. These elements demonstrate that the movie accurately portrayed typical Inuit behaviours.
The Inuit culture placed a high value on musical ceremonies. The Inuit frequently engaged in musical festivities with shamans. Manhood ceremonies were also frequent, even though many of these rituals celebrated fertility.
The manhood ritual was a significant aspect of Inuit society in the movie. When men demonstrated their value to their community, they were honoured in a musical event. In Inuit culture, the ceremony involves the entire village, and this is depicted in the movie. The movie also showed a young man receiving an animal totem necklace at his coming-of-age ritual.
The impact of animal spirit totems was the second facet of Inuit culture to be looked at. In the movie, a shaman told a youngster what his spirit animal was when he reached adulthood. The animal spirits have a significant impact on Inuit culture, just as they do in many Native American stories.
The transformation seen in the movie closely parallels the Inuit notion of human-animal transformation.
With the influence of a shaman, religion is very important in Inuit society. Shamans were regarded highly by all the people in a community because they served as mediators between the physical world and the spirit world.
In conclusion, the movie had a lot of authentic elements of Inuit culture. The use of such components gave an otherwise purely fun endeavor an instructional component. Even though some details weren't precise, the designers made sure the most significant details were. The depiction of the Inuit cultural elements as a whole was favorable and accurate.

.The majority of today's power line accidents occur because:
A. Of failure to maintain proper work distances
B. Of failure to wear insulating gloves when working near a power line
C. Of working with non-conductive tools
D. Power companies fail to deenergize lines as requested.
The majority of today's power line accidents occur because of A. failure to maintain proper work distances. Maintaining a safe distance from power lines is crucial in preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of workers.
Power lines carry extremely high voltages, making them hazardous if proper precautions are not taken.
When individuals or equipment come too close to power lines, they risk being subjected to electric shocks or electrocution. These accidents can result in severe injuries or even fatalities.
To mitigate such risks, maintaining a safe distance from power lines is crucial. This distance is typically specified by safety regulations and guidelines set by relevant authorities.
The specific safe working distance may vary depending on factors such as the voltage carried by the power lines, weather conditions, and the nature of the work being performed.
By maintaining a safe distance, workers reduce the chances of accidental contact with live power lines. This distance acts as a buffer zone that helps protect individuals and equipment from the dangers of electrical shock.
It also allows for a margin of error, accounting for potential movements or unforeseen circumstances during the work process.

Ocean Noise
When we think about the pollution of our oceans, many of us think of oil spills that dirty the waters and harm a variety of ocean life. Or, we might think of people in boats who litter the waters with their trash. After all, how many times in the news do we hear about ships that leak dangerous chemicals into the water? What we may not realize, though, is that there is another danger that is just as harmful to ocean life as any chemical or other dangerous material: ocean noise.
Many of us think of the oceans as silent places. On the contrary, they are filled with a variety of sounds. On any given day, one might hear the calls of dolphins as they swim through the waters. Whales use sounds to keep track of each other. Sea lions talk to each other to find food. Even the tiniest of shrimp make a snapping sound. There are also sounds caused by wind or rain upon the waters. Sound also plays an important role in the daily life of various ocean animals, many of which depend upon their sharp sound detection skills to survive. With increased activities by people on many of the oceans’ waters, the noise has increased so much that it is beginning to cause damage to the oceans as well as to the animals that live in them.
Ocean noise is the term used to describe the human-made noise occurring at increasing rates in the ocean. The noise comes from many different sources: large ships, small boats with motors, and jet skis, among others. There are also underwater exploration activities such as mining, as well as radar activities of ships. One of the most harmful types of ocean noise occurs with offshore oil drilling and seismic oil explorations. Air guns are instruments that are used to determine the location of oil and natural gas beneath the sea floor. They make a sound that can damage the hearing of ocean animals.
We know that sound travels faster in water than it does in air. This means that sounds in the oceans can travel for many, many miles in a short period of time. Unfortunately, sounds made by people are much louder than sounds made by ocean animals.
What this means is that sounds caused by noisy engines or radar equipment used by ships can upset the everyday activities of the creatures that live in the ocean. For instance, humpback whales use songs to talk to each other. Scientists have discovered that the whales’ system of “talking” can be disturbed by loud noises. This makes it harder for the whales to find each other. The stranding of whales and dolphins has been found to increase immediately after naval sonar maneuvers. Sea lions are another type of animal that depends on sounds to communicate with other sea lions. Ocean noise can make it difficult for them to find food. Ocean noise can disturb migration routes of whales and other animals that travel to different places.
However, scientists and other researchers are working hard to find a solution to this threat to marine life. Since 2003, the use of low-frequency active (LFA) sonar equipment by the United States Navy has been tightly limited because its effects have been shown to cause harm to many ocean animals. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) has released a plan to reduce ocean noise that will work better than past attempts to reduce the noise.
Other people are helping as well. Some fishing companies use special equipment that makes a “pinging” sound to keep certain kinds of ocean life from getting caught in its fishing nets. The National Park Service completed a study that tracked tour cruise ships and made an effort to reduce the number of tours. They also tried to increase the “quiet time” for humpback whales by scheduling tours farther apart.
Local conservation groups are also asking people to be more careful about using jet skis, motorboats, and other equipment that might disturb areas where ocean life is particularly fragile. Also, closer attention is being paid to where ships are traveling to make sure that, whenever possible, they stay away from waters where large numbers of ocean animals live.
With the increase in ocean noise, measures must be taken to control or, at the very least, curb its growth.
What argument does the author make in "Ocean Noise"?
The ocean noise created by marine life is more detrimental than noise created by humans.
Oil spills are still much more dangerous than ocean noise.
Ocean noise has increased slightly. but it is not affecting marine life.
Human activity has greatly increased ocean noise to the detriment of marine life.
Answer:
I'm going to be honest, I'm not quite sure but I believe it is "Human activity has greatly increased ocean noise to the detriment of marine life."
Explanation:
I just thought about it a bit and this seems correct.
The argument is that "human activity has greatly increased ocean noise to the detriment of marine life," hence option D is correct.
What is the cause of noise pollution in ocean?Military sonar, oil exploration, and industrial ships produce the loudest and most obtrusive man-made ocean noise, and the center is working to preserve our marine species from each of these dangers.
In the argumentative essay "Ocean Noise," the author argues that by reducing water sport activities and reducing noise pollution, people may stop threatening marine life.
"Human activity has greatly increased ocean noise to the detriment of marine life," claims the argument.
Therefore, the argument is that "human activity has greatly increased ocean noise to the detriment of marine life."

The males of the Cervidae (deer) family, such as elk, moose, deer, and caribou, grow antlers on their heads. Caribou are the only species in which the females also have antlers. Antlers are branched structures made of bone. Most antlered animals shed them annually in the fall or winter and then grow new antlers in the spring. Horns, unlike antlers, don't fall off but continue to grow throughout the animal's life. Further, horns aren't branched, nor are they made entirely of bone. Horns contain a bony core that is covered with a sheath of keratin, similar to the material of fingernails. Horned animals, which include sheep, cows, bison, and goats, are in the Bovidae family. As you approach the cave, a dank and musty smell fills your nostrils. The entrance is narrow and winding, barely allowing you to pass through. You hear the sound of dripping water echoing off the cave walls, and the distant caw of crows adds to the ominous atmosphere.
As your eyes adjust to the darkness, you see that the cave is filled with all manner of strange objects. The walls are lined with shelves holding jars filled with powders, potions, and strange ingredients. The air is thick with the pungent scent of burning herbs, and a smoky haze hangs in the air.
In the center of the cave, you see a large black cauldron, bubbling and hissing as if alive. The surface of the liquid inside is iridescent, almost hypnotic, and you can't help but feel drawn towards it. As you approach, the heat from the cauldron washes over you, and you feel the hairs on your arms stand up in response.
The sound of chanting fills the air, and you see a cloaked figure stirring the cauldron with a long, wooden spoon. The figure turns to you, and you see the gleam of their eyes from beneath the hood. You feel a chill run down your spine as they speak, their voice low and menacing.
The atmosphere in the cave is heavy and oppressive, and you can't help but feel like you're intruding on something dangerous. You back away slowly, the sound of the cawing crows and the bubbling cauldron still ringing in your ears. As you leave the cave and the sunlight hits your face, you can't help but feel a sense of relief that you've escaped the dark and foreboding presence within.
