Explanation:

127°C = 400.15 Kelvin   (because 127 + 273.15)

Charles Law:

\(\frac{V1}{T1} = \frac{V2}{T2}\)   Thus, \(\frac{10.0 L}{400.15 K} = \frac{20.0 L}{T2}\)

Then, work out the math algebraically.

T2 = 20.0 / (10.0/400.15)

What is the empirical formula of a compound containing C, H, and O if combustion of 3.69 g of the compound yields 5.40 g of CO2 and 2.22 g of H2O

Answers

Empirical formula = C : H : O = moles of carbon / smallest number of moles : moles of hydrogen / smallest number of moles : moles of oxygen / smallest number of moles

The empirical formula of a compound can be determined by analyzing the masses of the elements in the compound. In this case, we are given that the combustion of 3.69 g of the compound yields 5.40 g of CO2 and 2.22 g of H2O.

To determine the empirical formula, we need to find the moles of carbon (C), hydrogen (H), and oxygen (O) in the given masses of CO2 and H2O.

First, let's find the moles of carbon in 5.40 g of \(CO_{2}\)
Molar mass of \(CO_{2}\) = 12.01 g/mol (C) + 2(16.00 g/mol) (O)

                                 = 44.01 g/mol
Moles of carbon = mass of CO2 / molar mass of \(CO_{2}\) = 5.40 g / 44.01 g/mol = 0.1227 mol

Next, let's find the moles of hydrogen in 2.22 g of \(H_{2}O\)
Molar mass of \(H_{2}O\) = 2(1.01 g/mol) (H) + 16.00 g/mol (O) = 18.02 g/mol
Moles of hydrogen = mass of \(H_{2}O\) / molar mass of \(H_{2}O\) = 2.22 g / 18.02 g/mol = 0.1231 mol

Now, we can determine the moles of oxygen in the compound by subtracting the sum of the moles of carbon and hydrogen from the moles of oxygen:
Moles of oxygen = 3.69 g / molar mass of compound - (moles of carbon + moles of hydrogen)

Lastly, we can determine the empirical formula by dividing the number of moles of each element by the smallest number of moles obtained:
Empirical formula = C : H : O = moles of carbon / smallest number of moles : moles of hydrogen / smallest number of moles : moles of oxygen / smallest number of moles

Please note that without the actual masses of each element in the compound, we cannot determine the exact empirical formula. However, the steps mentioned above will help you determine the ratio of the elements in the compound.

PLEASEEEE HELP DUE IN 2 HOURSS PLEASE!! 15 POINTS!!!!Someone decides to swap out nitric acid (HNO3) for hydrogen
chloride (HCI), given that it will be much stronger due to opposing dipole
forces. Explain if they are correct or incorrect and why.
*

Answers

Explanation:

The claim that hydrogen chloride (HCl) would be much stronger than nitric acid (HNO3) due to opposing dipole forces is incorrect.

Both HCl and HNO3 are strong acids, meaning that they dissociate completely in water to produce H+ ions. The strength of an acid is determined by the degree to which it dissociates in water. In other words, the stronger the acid, the more H+ ions it produces in water.

The dissociation of HCl and HNO3 in water can be represented as follows:

HCl + H2O → H+ + Cl-

HNO3 + H2O → H+ + NO3-

As we can see, both HCl and HNO3 produce H+ ions in water. Therefore, the strength of an acid cannot be solely determined by its dipole forces.

In addition, it's important to note that HCl is a much more volatile and corrosive acid than HNO3. It can cause severe respiratory and skin irritation when it is inhaled or comes into contact with skin. Therefore, switching HNO3 for HCl could be dangerous and should not be done without proper precautions and expert knowledge

Oxides of group 1a and 2a metals are generally basic, meaning they react with water to form solutions with a pH greater than 7. This is because these metal oxides have a tendency to donate electrons to water molecules, forming hydroxide ions (OH-) and cations of the metal. The resulting solution is basic due to the presence of hydroxide ions.

Answers

The hydronium ion concentration of a solution with a pOH of 8.30 is 1.99 × 10−6 M.

The hydronium ion concentration of a solution with a pOH of 8.30 is 1.99 × 10−6 M. A pH scale measures the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. The pOH scale measures the concentration of hydroxide ions in a solution. The formula for calculating pOH is:

pOH = -log[OH-]pH + pOH = 14.00

In the given question, the pOH is 8.30, which means the pH is:

pH + pOH = 14.00pH

= 14.00 - 8.30

= 5.70

The concentration of H+ ions in a solution with a pH of 5.70 is given by:

pH = -log[H+]5.70

= -log[H+]H+

= 10⁻⁵.70H+

= 1.99 × 10⁻⁶

The concentration of hydronium ions is the same as the concentration of hydrogen ions in an aqueous solution; thus, the hydronium ion concentration of a solution with a pOH of 8.30 is 1.99 × 10−6 M. Answer: b. 1.99 × 10−6

pOH of a solution is used to indicate the acidity of the solution, where lower values indicate higher acidity. If the pOH of a solution is known, it is easy to calculate the hydronium ion concentration using the formula given below.

The formula for calculating hydronium ion concentration from pOH is as follows:$$[H_3O^+]=10^{-pOH}$$Where,$$pOH=-\log[OH^-]$$$$[OH^-]=10^{-pOH}$$Therefore,$$[H_3O^+]=10^{-pOH}$$Given that the pOH of a solution is 8.30. So,$$[OH^-]=10^{-pOH}=10^{-8.3}=5.01×10^{-9}M$$Therefore, $$[H_3O^+]=\dfrac{K_w}{[OH^-]}=\dfrac{10^{-14}}{5.01×10^{-9}}=1.99×10^{-6}M$$So, the answer is b. 1.99 × 10−6 M.

A saturated solution is made by dissolving a 36.8 of a solid in 200 ML of water. A second solution is made by dissolving 19.1 g of the same solid in 100 ML of water. How would this solution be classified?

Answers

Answer:

To determine the classification of the second solution, we need to compare the amount of solid dissolved in it to the amount that can be dissolved in water at that temperature.

From the first solution, we know that 36.8 g of the solid can dissolve in 200 mL of water. To convert this to g/mL, we divide 36.8 g by 200 mL to get 0.184 g/mL.

Using this value, we can calculate the maximum amount of solid that can dissolve in 100 mL of water:

0.184 g/mL x 100 mL = 18.4 g

Since the second solution was made by dissolving 19.1 g of the solid in 100 mL of water, it is a supersaturated solution.

Proportionality constant

Answers

The calcium ion has 18 protons, 20 neutrons, and 20 electrons.
The relationship between the components a and b is Inverse proportion.

The calcium ion (Ca2+) has a 2+ charge, indicating that it has lost 2 electrons from its neutral state. To determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in the calcium ion, we need to consider its atomic number and mass.

The atomic number of calcium is 20, which indicates that it has 20 protons. Since the calcium ion has a 2+ charge, it means it has lost 2 electrons. Therefore, the number of electrons in the calcium ion is 20 - 2 = 18.

The mass number of calcium is 40 amu, which represents the total number of protons and neutrons. Since the calcium ion has 20 protons, the number of neutrons can be calculated as 40 - 20 = 20.

So, the correct option is: d. 18 protons, 20 neutrons, and 20 electrons

In the expression a∼1/b, the relationship between the components a and b is an inverse proportion. This means that as the value of a increases, the value of b decreases, and vice versa. The symbol ∼ represents the proportional relationship between a and 1/b, indicating that they are inversely related. Therefore, the correct answer is: Inverse proportion

The reaction 2Na(s) + Cl₂(g) → 2NaCl(s) obeys the law of conservation of mass.

Yes, this reaction obeys the law of conservation of mass. The law of conservation of mass states that mass is neither created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction; it is only rearranged.

In the given reaction, we have 2 sodium atoms (Na) on the left side and 2 sodium atoms (Na) on the right side. Similarly, we have 2 chlorine molecules (Cl₂) on the left side and 2 chlorine atoms (Cl) on the right side. Therefore, the number of atoms of each element is balanced on both sides of the reaction.

Additionally, the total mass of the reactants (2Na + Cl₂) is equal to the total mass of the product (2NaCl). The coefficients in the balanced equation represent the stoichiometric ratios, ensuring that the mass is conserved.
