What is a quadratic equation?

In Mathematics, the standard form of a quadratic equation is represented by the following equation;

ax² + bx + c = 0

Next, we would solve the given quadratic equation by using the completing the square method;

x² - 10x + 8 = 0

x² - 10x = -8

In order to complete the square, we would have to add (half the coefficient of the x-term)² to both sides of the quadratic equation as follows:

x² - 10x + (-10/2)² = 8 + (-10/2)²

x² - 10x + 25 = -8 + 25

x² - 10x + 25 = 17

By simplifying, we have;

(x - 5)² = 17

Plz give the answer for 8th and 9th question

Answers

Answer:

8. 8/9 is not the multiplicative inverse of –1⅛

9. 0.3 is the multiplicative inverse of 3⅓

Step-by-step explanation:

To answer the above questions, we must understand the meaning of multiplicative inverse. This is illustrated below:

Let y be the number.

The multiplicative inverse of y denoted by y¯¹ (or 1/y) when multiplied with y will give an identity of 1 i.e

y × y¯¹ = 1

Or

y × 1/y = 1

Now, let us answer the questions given above by calculating the multiplicative inverse.

8. The number (y) = –1⅛ = –9/8

Multiplicative inverse (y¯¹) =?

y × y¯¹ = 1

–9/8 × y¯¹ = 1

Divide both side by –9/8

y¯¹ = 1 ÷ –9/8

y¯¹ = 1 × –8/9

y¯¹ = –8/9

Thus, 8/9 is not the multiplicative inverse of –1⅛

9. The number (y) = 3⅓ = 10/3

Multiplicative inverse (y¯¹) =?

y × y¯¹ = 1

10/3 × y¯¹ = 1

Divide both side by 10/3

y¯¹ = 1 ÷ 10/3

y¯¹ = 1 × 3/10

y¯¹ = 3/10

y¯¹ = 0.3

Thus, 0.3 is the multiplicative inverse of 3⅓.

To find the mean distance, you need to add up all the distances run by each family member and divide by the number of family members.

The total distance run by all the family members is:

11 + 4 + 8 + 2 + 5 = 30

Consider a tree T with n vertices, where n is an odd integer greater than or equal to 3. Let v be a vertex of T. Prove that there exists a vertex u in T such that the distance between u and v is at most (n-1)/2

Answers

There must exist a vertex u in T such that the distance between u and v is at most (n-1)/2.

To prove the existence of a vertex u in tree T such that the distance between u and v is at most (n-1)/2, we can employ a contradiction argument. Assume that such a vertex u does not exist.

Since the number of vertices in T is odd, there must be at least one path from v to another vertex w such that the distance between v and w is greater than (n-1)/2.

Denote this path as P. Let x be the vertex on path P that is closest to v.

By assumption, the distance from x to v is greater than (n-1)/2. However, the remaining vertices on path P, excluding x, must have distances at least (n+1)/2 from v.

Therefore, the total number of vertices in T would be at least n + (n+1)/2 > n, which is a contradiction.

Hence, there must exist a vertex u in T such that the distance between u and v is at most (n-1)/2.

A dairy farm has a real estate tax rate of $57.26 per thousand dollars of assessed
value. If the farm is assessed at $665,500.00 what is the real estate tax?

Answers

To calculate the real estate tax, we can use the following formula:

Real estate tax = (Assessed value / 1000) * Tax rate

Plugging in the values we have:

- Assessed value = $665,500.00
- Tax rate = $57.26 per thousand dollars

Real estate tax = ($665,500.00 / 1000) * $57.26 = $38,107.03

Therefore, the real estate tax for the dairy farm is $38,107.03.

Question Help

Answers

To find the radius of the cylinder, we can use the formula for the volume of a cylinder:

V = πr²h

Given that the volume is 824 cubic inches, we can rearrange the formula to solve for the radius:

824 = πr²h

Since the height is not given, we cannot find the exact radius. However, we can still determine the relationship between the height and radius if the volume remains the same.

b. If the height of the cylinder is changed, but the volume stays the same, the radius will change inversely proportional to the height. This means that as the height increases, the radius will decrease, and vice versa. This relationship ensures that the volume remains constant.

Therefore, we cannot determine the exact radius without knowing the height, but we can conclude that the radius and height have an inverse relationship.

What is the area of the square that measures 3.1 m on each side

Answers

The area of the square with a side length of 3.1 meters is 9.61 square meters.

To find the area of a square, we need to multiply the length of one side by itself. In this case, the square has a side length of 3.1 m.

Area of a square = side length × side length

Substituting the given side length into the formula:

Area = 3.1 m × 3.1 m

To perform the calculation:

Area = 9.61 m²

It's worth noting that when calculating the area, we are working with squared units. In this case, the side length is in meters, so the area is expressed in square meters (m²). The area represents the amount of space enclosed within the square.

Remember, to find the area of any square, you simply need to multiply the length of one side by itself.

The area of the square with a side length of 3.1 meters is 9.61 square meters.

Using the skid marks we were able to determine the distance and we were given acceleration. On top of that we knew the final velocity had to be zero because the cars came to a complete stop. Using what we knew we solved for Vi and found that the SUVs initial velocity was 2.8 m/s and the wagons initial velocity was 12 m/s. Since we found the velocity of both vehicles and the masses were given we were able to use the equation mv = p to calculate the momentum of both immediately following the collision. We found that the momentum of the SUV equaled a total of 8,400 kg*m/s and the wagon equaled 24,000 kg*m/s. Knowing that the momentum before the collision has to be equal to the momentum after the collision we were able to find the momentum of each vehicle immediately before the collision. We added up each cars momentum from after the collision and got a total of 32,400 kg*m/s but, because the wagon was sitting at a stop sign it had no momentum therefore the SUV had a momentum of 32,400 kg*m/s.After finding the momentum of the cars before the collision we used the equation mv = p to calculate the speed/velocity before the cars collided. Using the given mass of 3000kg and the momentum of 32,400 kg*m/s we found the speed/velocity was 10.8 m/s for the SUV. The speed of the wagon had to be 0 because it was sitting still at the stop sign. Using what we know about conversions we were able to convert 10.8 m/s to km/hr finding out that the SUV was going 38.88 km/hr which was three km/hr over the speed limit. Therefore the SUV was indeed speeding. :What can the reader infer about TheGiver based on his own experience as theReciever of memories
