Spring and Fall
To a Young Child
by Gerard Manley Hopkins

Márgarét, áre you gríeving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leáves like the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Ah! ás the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By and by, nor spare a sigh
Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you wíll weep and know why.
Now no matter, child, the name:
Sórrow’s spríngs áre the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed
What heart heard of, ghost guessed:
It ís the blight man was born for,
It is Margaret you mourn for.

What was the one treasured items Crispin received from father Quinell that was his mothers

Answers

Crispin received a treasured item from Father Quinell, his mother's cross. It was a small, wooden cross that she had worn around her neck ever since he was a small child.

He remembered how often he had seen her touch it for comfort, and how it had seemed to give her strength. She had told him it was a reminder of the Lord's love and that it was a symbol of protection.

When Father Quinell gave it to him, he could almost feel her presence with him, comforting him and giving him strength in his new life. He was sure it would give him strength in the days ahead, just like it had done for his mother.

You explored the concept of listening effectively and how important it is in the communication process. In a single paragraph, describe the difference between just hearing and actually listening. You must include two examples of each and discuss why it is important to be an active listener in the communication process. Be sure your paragraph is 5-7 sentences

Answers

Hearing is described as "the way, purpose, or ability to perceive a sound. Whereas, to hear anything with serious attention is listening.

Although some people may equate hearing and listening, there are differences between the two. One is more active and labor-intensive, whereas the other comes naturally and without effort. It takes both hearing and listening to grasp both learning and communication.

Being attentive while listening makes it an active process. Hearing is passive. It, therefore, becomes involuntary. Active listening must be practised to enhance listening abilities. Here one consciously tries to hear the message being delivered, not just the words being spoken. One must pay close attention to the other person in order to accomplish this.

One can't allow themselves to be sidetracked while the other person is still speaking, They also can't let themselves become disinterested and stop paying attention to what the other person is saying.

in this there was much that reminded me of the specious totality of old wood-work which has rotted for long years in some neglected vault, with no disturbance from the breath of the external air. why does the narrator describe the house in this way? to show that it has a nice design to show that it reminds him of something rotting to show that there are too many people inside to show that the owner had a lot of parties

Answers

The narrator describe the house in this way in the passage, "to show that it has a nice design."

This same text makes this response quite clear. The narrative voice is talking about the fact that he had been dreaming when he woke up when he says, "Shaking what must have been an dream."

The term "escaneei" relates to "scanned" in this section when the narrator says, "I scanned this same building more closely," indicating that now the author is currently "Examining this same house more attentively."

Hence, the correct answer is "to show that it has a nice design."

As of my training data cut off in 2021, the recreational use of marijuana remains illegal in Missouri. However, medical marijuana has been legal in the state since 2018, when Amendment 2 was passed by voters. Using a quotation in the introduction can be effective in getting your audience’s attention but should never be used in the conclusion of a speech.

a) true

b) false

Answers

Using a quotation in the introduction can be effective in getting your audience's attention, but it should never be used in the conclusion of a speech. This statement is TRUE.

In a speech, the introduction serves the purpose of capturing the audience's interest and setting the tone for the rest of the speech. Quotations can be a powerful tool to achieve this goal. By using a relevant and impactful quotation, you can grab the attention of your audience and create a connection with them. However, when it comes to the conclusion of a speech, it is generally recommended not to use a quotation. The conclusion is meant to wrap up your speech, summarize your main points, and leave a lasting impression on the audience. Using a quotation in the conclusion may distract from the main message and weaken the impact of your closing remarks.

Instead of relying on a quotation in the conclusion, it is more effective to provide a concise summary of your main points, reinforce your key message, and leave the audience with a memorable closing statement. This allows you to end your speech on a strong and impactful note.

Looping into the Future

1 For the past few years, the city of Los Angeles has been struggling with the problem of heavy traffic. Some people have even gone as far as to suggest that the only way to resolve this problem would be to charge drivers for using roads!

2 Elon Musk, a businessman, an investor, and an engineer, has proposed that an alternative way to combat this problem would be digging tunnels. However, these tunnels will not be used to simply redirect traffic. They also would help commuters travel faster. Musk has even started a new company in Los Angeles called "The Boring Company" to dig tunnels at a low cost.

3 Musk's idea is called the "Loop." The Loop is a high-speed, underground, public-transportation system that would carry passengers on "electric skates." These electric skates1 would run faster than high-speed trains. The skates would travel at 125 to 150 miles an hour. They would carry either a single passenger vehicle or eight to sixteen passenger vehicles at a time. This system would use elevators to transport passengers or vehicles from the street down to the Loop station underground. The Boring Company claims that since these stations do not require a lot of space, they can be built even on busy streets along the tunnel route.

4 "The best thing about the Loop is that it would be accessible to everyone—just like buses. I think this is very affordable, considering some of the other alternatives," said Mr. Swan in an official statement on The Boring Company's website. Mr. Swan is an engineer working at the company. Musk has also promised free rides for all passengers during the trial run of the Loop service.

5 Not only does this mode of transportation promise to be cheaper and swifter, it also promises to be less polluting than air travel. This is because the Loop would run on solar energy. The officials at The Boring Company also claim that the construction would be quicker and cheaper than that of a traditional high-speed train.

6 While Musk's proposal does seem promising, it will only be a matter of time to find out how successful and practical it actually is.

Why is paragraph 3 important to the selection?
A.
It provides the reasons why people should only use the Loop.
