How do paragraphs 7-8 contribute to the development of ideas in the text?

Squanto was originally from the village of Patuxet (Pa TUK et) and a member of the Pokanokit Wampanoag nation. Patuxet once stood on the exact site where the Pilgrims built Plymouth. In 1605, fifteen years before the Pilgrims came, Squanto went to England with a friendly English explorer named John Weymouth. He had many adventures and learned to speak English. Squanto came back to New England with Captain Weymouth. Later Squanto was captured by a British slaver who raided the village and sold Squanto to the Spanish in the Caribbean Islands. A Spanish Franciscan priest befriended Squanto and helped him to get to Spain and later on a ship to England. Squanto then found Captain Weymouth, who paid his way back to his homeland. In England Squanto met Samoset of the Wabanake (Wab-NAH-key) Tribe, who had also left his native home with an English explorer. They both returned together to Patuxet in 1620. When they arrived, the village was deserted13 and there were skeletons everywhere. Everyone in the village had died from an illness the English slavers had left behind. Squanto and Samoset went to stay with a neighboring village of Wampanoags.

One year later, in the spring, Squanto and Samoset were hunting along the beach near Patuxet. They were startled to see people from England in their deserted village. For several days, they stayed nearby observing the newcomers. Finally they decided to approach them. Samoset walked into the village and said “Welcome,” Squanto soon joined him. The Pilgrims were very surprised to meet two Indians who spoke English.

For history class, Marlena is writing a paper on President Andrew Jackson's treatment of minorities, namely Africar
Americans and Native Americans. During her research, she finds the archived journal of one of his numerous,
African American slaves on his Tennessee plantation. It talks about daily life as a servant and does not speak
highly of President Jackson.

What challenges would a researcher consider when deciding to use this source?

A. The relevance: The journal was written during Andrew Jackson's presidency and is not
modern-day.

B. The slave's education: Only scholars and experts should be used as sources in research
papers.

C. The audience: The history teacher may not know this information about Andrew Jackson and
might find it upsetting.

D. The slave's bias: Though the servant does not think highly of the president, the first-hand
account serves as an excellent resource in understanding the president's treatment and
management of a minority, namely his African American slaves.

Answers

Answer:

D. The slave's bias: Though the servant does not think highly of the president, the first-hand account serves as an excellent resource in understanding the president's treatment and management of a minority, namely his African American slaves.

Explanation:

When deciding to use the described source, the challenge that a researcher should consider is the slave's bias. When we're writing a research paper, we should do our best to use objective sources - sources based on facts and uninfluenced by the writer's feelings, opinions, beliefs, and assumptions.

However, Marlena is writing a paper on President Andrew Jackson's treatment of minorities. The information those minorities left about the treatment they endured is important. Using a biased source is alright and maybe even necessary in this case.

Answers

Scientific language is not as precise as believed, and new theories rely on intuition and aesthetics alongside methodology.

Scientists and philosophers of science often assume that "scientific language" possesses inherent precision, leading to mutual understanding even among those who disagree.

However, scientific language is not fundamentally distinct from ordinary language; it is also susceptible to imprecision and ambiguity, resulting in imperfect comprehension.

Furthermore, the construction of new theories or arguments rarely follows clear-cut steps of induction, deduction, verification, or falsification.

Similarly, their defense, rejection, or acceptance does not occur in such a straightforward manner.

In practice, scientists combine the principles of scientific methodology with intuition, aesthetics, and philosophical commitment.

While the significance of extra-rational or extra-logical elements in the discovery of new principles or laws is generally acknowledged, their role in persuasion and argumentative effectiveness is less frequently discussed, mainly due to their subtle nature.

The credibility and persuasiveness of an argument often rely on shared common experiences and extensive practice in communicating those experiences in a common language.

These underlying conventions and interpretations, acquired over years of active participation within a community, heavily influence discourse even in subjects that are amenable to quantification.

Who are consumers?

An individual or group that does not actively engage in entrepreneurial or commercial operations but who plans to order or utilises acquired items, products, or services primarily for personal, social, family, or household purposes is referred to as a consumer. Most frequently, the phrase is used to describe someone who makes purchases for their own use.

A consumer in an economy often purchases products or services for personal use rather than for resale or for business objectives. When purchasing products or services, consumers must pay money (or an equivalent) before they may utilise them (use up). Thus, consumers are an essential component of any economy and play a crucial role in the economic system of a capitalist system. Without customer demand, one of the primary driving forces behind production—the desire to sell to consumers—would not exist. One end of the supply chain is also the consumer.

It would determine who would lift the 'David Trophy' home. We reached the ground earlier and took our seats along with some popcorns and snacks. The match began sharp at 10 and the Rhinos scored five goals back to back in the first half. It seemed that it would be a completely one-sided match but the comeback by the Real Monarch was extensively surprising and a delight to watch. The captain of Real Monarch 'Steve Joseph' scored a hat-trick to take the game in his favor. The audiences were really in awe to see him. In the last two minutes, the scores were level and it became very intense. The ball was being passed from one player to another and we were biting our nails thinking what would happen next. Last Moment, Thomas hit a goal beating the goal-keeper to take his team Real Monarch to the victory. We really enjoyed it a lot and it was a terrific match.
